hello everyone my fiance and I are in the process of looking at tickets. We are hoping for a POE in two weeks he will be picking up his Visa on Friday Nov 12th so we will wait for him to have Visa in hand to book the flight. However we were wondering if he can come in on a round-trip ticket because the prices seem to be a lot cheaper on round trip tickets than on One way tickets, Has anyone recently had a POE that could answer this question for me? thanks in advance :)

If a RT ticket is cheaper then buy it. When the return portion ticket won't be used, then just call the airline to cancel so you close that loop.

Airlines only care about filling seats. When someone buys just one way, that means another seat will be empty on another flight because not a RT ticket was purchased.

ps, USCIS does not care what kind of ticket you buy, so don't let any geniuses here tell ya different.

I have already been looking for prices even though we have until the 19th for his interview, with one way-using Kayak.com I found tickets for around $800 from Lagos to Dulles Washington DC, the one ways seemed a lot cheaper when I was looking, so I advise you to try looking at kayak.com, but if you find a better deal-let me know what airline :)

hope that helps!

Whichever is cheaper: one-way or roundtrip. My husband used Qatar airways with a one way ticket. You never know how long it will take for AOS process to be completed. Hope I was helpful.

Either is fine but if you buy a round trip ticket make sure it is the first leg of the ticket that is used. If he doesn't show up for the first flight, the ticket will be cancelled.

Round trip is fine. The 2 site I found had the best rates between Africa and the US are kayak and vayama If you go round trip make sure to cancel the return portion. Someone recently had some sort of heart ache when the airlines reported that he left on his return ticket when in fact he hadn't.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Seconded +10!

The airline WILL try to sell your return-leg seat to someone flying standby if you don't show up to take it.

If you don't cancel the return leg after you arrive, the airline may inadvertently not remove your name from the flight manifest when (not if) they sell your seat on standby. Your name will then show up on a flight manifest leaving the US sometime during the processing of your AOS. This WILL show up in the standard background checks USCIS do when adjudicating your AOS, and even though it'a the airline's error, USCIS trust the airlines more than they trust you.

If this happens, it will BADLY complicate your AOS, so MAKE SURE that return leg is canceled!

DON'T PANIC
