Hey guys!

my 1-485 had just been approved and I should recieve my green card in the next few weeks. before sending in the 1-485, I filled and sent in the 1-130. that case hasnt updated in about a mont- but still in inital review. I was wondering if the 1-130 really even matters anymore? as I now am getting my green card? was it a waste of 330.00?! :o

What kind of visa did you enter with?

08/18/2010 - AOS Interview - APPROVED!

05/01/2013 - Removal of Conditions - APPROVED!

No, the $330 wasn't a waste of money. Internally they would have to approve the I-130 before the the I-485 can be approved. Maybe you slipped through an oversight or wasn't given a notice that your I-130 was approved. Did you have an interview?

Naturalization

the only interview I had was for the 1-485, which i had this week. the 1-130 says its still in inital review. it was touched on the 11th of this month but nothing more. weird.

but also my employjment and travel card was approved- and they were the last to be sent in, even after the 1-485

The interview you had was actually for both. Like edp said, they can't approve 485 without 130 in your case. The uscis status portal is messed up, that's all.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

** moved from "Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from Family Based Visas" to "Adjustment of Status from Work, Student, & Tourist Visas" as you are adjusting from a visa other than a K1, K2, K3 & K4 which the prior forum is for **

+2.

My GC was approved last week (including an I-551 stamp and card production). Earlier this week we received a paper notice (addressing to my wife, the USC) that the I-130 had been approved. The online status for the I-130 still shows 'initial review' as well. As others have said - the USCIS tracking system is just a bit messed up. You absolutely didn't waste the money - you would have been rejected without the I-130.
