Dear VJs,

We received a letter today that we are requested to appear for a AOS Second interview which I believe the term here is "Strokes Interview". We are disappointed about this for we believe that during our previous interview we submitted overwhelming evidence to prove that our marriage is genuine. Now, we don't know what to expect to this coming interview. What documents does we need to bring? Do we need to produce another set of evidences? More pictures? What are the possible questions? I've read some posts here that even sex positions are asked. Anyway, any help will be very appreciated especially from those couples who had undergone the interview. Thanks.

It would help to know what evidence you brought to the first interview, if you got any questions wrong/ said you didn't know and if there are any red flags in your case (such as recent divorce, previous immigrant visa filings, large age difference etc).

In general, they will ask about your life (such as which side of the bed you each sleep on, what you had for dinner two days ago, what was the last movie you saw together etc) and history (asking for your spouses' siblings names, name of his high school, who of your and his family was at the wedding etc etc). If you have a look at the movies Greencard and The Proposal, it'll give you an idea.

This may bean interesting read for you, though each state does things differently: Stokes Interview (from NY Times)

Take everything you did to the 1st interview, then add to this. Get affidavits from people you know stating you are couple.

We just had our 1st interview and was a grilling - the article from New York that Penquin_ie posted is really good. I read this yesterday - I wished our interview had been this easy ..lol

Good Luck

Well what exactly did you bring to the first interview?

Hi amykathleen2005! We brought a lot in the first interview - Lease agreement, joint bank accounts, tons of pictures, sworn affidavits from relatives and friends who can testify about our marriage, property acquired in the Philippines which are joint and both on our names, etc. We got a lot. I think the problem is that we are so nervous on the interview, IO interpret it in a different way. So, do we need to produce another set of evidences?

It would not hurt to bring in more documentary evidence of your marriage - as much as you can to show how you have mingled together your assets and your liabilities over the course of the marriage - including since you filed for the AOS. While they will help, what will help the most is making sure that you both answer the questions correctly and the same way, so you both need to pay special attention to details that a married couple would know: your home together (what it looks like, where things are, colours, etc), your personal information (family member' names, birth dates, relationships, etc.), your own personal details ( names, birth dates, anniversary dates, what you did on special occasions, where do you each work, how much do you earn, who pays the bills, etc.) and possibly some more intimate questions that discusses your actual relationship.

Good luck.

Hehehe - shows you have observant I am! i didn't even notice. Anyway, I have edited the title so it now reads 'Stokes' as the OP isn't able to edit a title once it has posted.

from what I've heard others share on stokes interview is that you will be separated, they will grill your spouse on tons of questions, almost about everything, from what colors are the curtains, to what did you do on the weekend, everything that they might think that a "real" couple should know.

they will ask the same questions to you and verify the answers if you answer both the same thing. try to review thing in the home, numbers, keys to the house, anthing that has a lot of little details.

We've been in almost te same situation like you. We went to our first interview (Garden City,NY) with lots of documents to prove

our marriage is bonafide and we've been denied because simply the officer did not like us. She did not want to look at any of our

documents and sent us for a second interview (stokes) to New York City. Both of us were devasted, knowing that we love each other very

much and yhe immigration might tea us apart.

Luckily, our second interview was extremely easy. We had an extremely pleasent officer who studied our file before calling us in

and who figured out that our marriage is a legit one after seeing how much proof of a bonafide marriage we had. He called us in together

and he even didn't want us to take the oath. He asked us a few questions and then he told my husband, the USC, that his petion was

approved. He then apologized for the bad experience with the Immigration in Garden City, saying that they are well known for

sending legit couples to stokes in NYC.

1 week after the interview, our case was updated with card production ordered.

If you have lots of documents to show you are a legit couple ,don't be afraid, you will be fine.

But a would hire a good attorney as well, just in case.
