By the way... we passed our 150 days on Friday and I e-mailed my congress person over the weekend and called USCIS at 8:01 on Monday morning. Talked to a rep who read off a really long series of scripts (what a job) but in between was really helpful and kind. He said at that they were processing 8-16 and that mine would be real soon. He said to call back in a week if I didn't hear anything. And then I got my NOA2 later that day. I don't know, maybe it was a coincidence but I can't help thinking it was somehow all related. Good luck out there!

Called USCIS as my five months is up. Also, previously a congressional unit made an inquiry on my behalf and forwarded me an e-mail saying everything should be done by January 24th (5 months from when they received the application, rather than 5 months from the NOA1). First service rep told me nothing could be done until tomorrow and even if she made a service request it would be bounced back to her by the computer. Asked to be escalated to the next level. Second person was much more helpful and said she submitted a service request and a request to expedite. She said I should here something back by Monday. Also sent an e-mail to the congressional aide I had worked with previously seeing if he could do anything. Hopefully something will stick.

Late 2006: began exchanging e-mails and IMs on and off

Around November, 2009: decided to meet in person

February, 2010: met in Thailand (first time)

May, 2010: met in Taiwan (second meeting)

August, 2010: got engaged

NOA1: August 26, 2010

November-December, 2010: met again in Taiwan (third meeting)

NOA2: 1/26/2011!

Ok guys, today is our 5 month mark. Fingers crossed for something by the end of the day... but I want to know, What's the most effective way to get through to the USCIS and get some sort of response and information? Any tips would be appreciated. Also, do I have to wait until tomorrow, since then it'll be 'past' 5 months, or would they be able to inform me of anything today, as it is 5 months right now. I want my NoA2!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm hoping to find out Friday.

I called the day OF my 5 month mark and the representative told me I could NOT file a service request. The CSC was asking for 21 more days added to the normal waiting period.

So I have patiently waited that 21 days (NOA-1 on 6th of August). I will be moving up to tier 2 when I call Friday. I'd REALLY like to know now because on the 1st of February I fly back out to Thailand to be with her for 3 weeks.

Since they don't keep up on their website, I would have to call them everyday while I was in Thailand to ensure I don't miss anything.

hi all!!

i haven't posted an extraordinary number of times around here, but i wanted to announce that abdelhay and i have received our NOA2 today, January 26th.

it's kind of a fun story, actually. maybe you all would like to hear. :)

i was getting ready for bed--i had even taken my glasses off for the night, but i thought i'd give USCIS one more chance before the day came to an end. usually i log in with my username and password, but tonight i decided to just check the site with my receipt number. once the page loaded and my eyes fell on the same "initial review" bubble yet again, i realized it wasn't the bubble that was highlighted anymore. no, no...it was the very last bubble, "post decision activity." and sure enough--once i signed in, i saw that my case was last updated today, a date that hasn't changed since 9/04/2010 (a date that is forever burned into my memory! haha).

i also wanted to add that i haven't yet received an email, although i have received the text message, and was able to see the update on the USCIS website before i received the text message. i also signed up for email/text notifications slightly late into the process too, so it does still work (something i was kind of curious about).

to all of you who have not yet received word--hang in there. keep up the hope. everything has an end--eventually. ;)

I haven't gotten an e-mail either.

Feels so good to be on Igor's list! She was really sad today that we hadn't heard anything so she was extremely happy to hear our time in limbo is almost done. Good luck and best wishes to everyone who is waiting. It's an incredibly frustrating process. Get that escalation as soon as you can and make your best case for why you need that damn visa!
