It's pretty obvious, but since nobody has stated the obvious let me do it with the wide-sweeping broom of generalization.

As the smartest philosophers have established already thousands of years ago, the ultimate goal in every person's life is to achieve happiness. Happiness has some cornerstones, such as food, shelter and health, but once those essential things are covered, the 'women are from Venus; men are from Mars' thing comes into play.

Woman want security, a provider, a father for their children.

Men want a hot woman, sex, and more sex.

Thus, a woman will always try to reel in the wealthiest man they can attract, whereas a man will always try to buy the hottest woman he can afford.

It's a fact of life, where exceptions prove the rule. It's not exactly Green Card related, but it can be applied to such cases where a hot woman from abroad marries an older gentleman from the US in order to meet her wants for a better life. Both get what they want here, so no harm done.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Legacy is NOT liberal. He's conservative if anything.

A good 3 to 4 years ago I predicted on here that this would be the next liberal bandwagon issue. Thanks for proving me right.

Right, but wouldn't it be a big factor in those places because marriage is generally the only way for a woman to be financially secure?

I guess I'm coming from the perspective (that obviously not everyone agrees with) that women being able to be financially independent is a good thing.

One of the advantages of being financially independent is never having to "settle" and not having to worry that your economic security is threatened by the fickle-mindedness of someone else.

At first glance your post seems to make sense but if you think twice... young hot female is not gonna marry a old man unless he`s loaded and a rich old man is not going to be faithfull just because his wife is young. If he is faithfull it is because it`s in his nature.Same with alcohol. Then why not marry a young man that doesn`t f**k around and doesn`t drink simply because he doesn`t have that in him?

I'm with you! :D

Why would I want someone being 20 years older than me that will only look like my father? A "Father 2" is not my aim in this life. No matter what position and income. faithinGod has a point, age does not guarantee he's trustworthy or faithful, but character does. The education he received. It's a stupid thing to say all women should marry waaaay too older men because they are great men and they'll offer a good future. No really? You can be 20 something and marry a 20 sth or 30 and get along so well. But when the difference is too big, will you be as mature as your man? I don't think so. This is just my opinion. So, please, just let me have it. ;)

And oh, stop thinking all the men in this world cheat! Cause that's not true. If he's serious and he respects you and loves you will only have eyes for you. It's not like we, women, don't have needs, like men, but both women and men can wait. Stop comparing ALL the men with animals that will... "f**k around" and they are smarter than their ladies, so they can do it.

You clearly didn't read "Men are from Mars; Women are from Venus," if that's what you think the stated gender differences entail.

You lie. Name these cultures.

I lie about it? So you think that can't possibly exist? Ok, how about very traditional Indian culture. Some of my inlaws in India think getting married for love alone is a bad idea. Sure they think it's nice if a couple finds love eventually, but to think of love marriages makes them very uncomfortable. And the love they think of can mean a different thing - not butterflies in the stomach falling in love stuff.

Sometimes that is true and sometimes it's just what the parents want their daughter to believe to manipulate them to do what they want. (I find it sad)
