Hello Everyone,

I am new on here and I am getting ready to send off our I-129f package, but I would like to know how the folder should look? I dont want to over do it with so much, but really what is too much when you trying to make a good impression and submit everything you need to prove you really are in love.

Please give me some advice on how your folder looked, so I can have idea or see if i am not doing it right.

SN: I heard I cannot use staples on anything, just use paper clips, is that true?

Thanks!

the USCIS takes the package apart and re-assembles it in there format.... just make it easy for them to find the documents and to disassemble it. There are no extra points for "good impression".

YMMV

I put mine in a 1 inch looseleaf binder with a clear cover. The application cover page was on the top and then I put separators inside that had pockets in them. I assembled in order of what they are looking for like proof of my citizenship, proof of meeting in person, proof of relationship. on each separator I had a shipping type label with typewritten list of documents inside each separation. That way they can find everything they need easily. Not sure if there is any preferred method so I did it in the most organized way I could so they could find the necessary documents. Good Luck!

Paper clips are fine but not needed. Identify each the files by writing the nature of each on a piece of colored paper as a way to separate them.

Whatever binder you use will be discarded anyway; one imagines a warehouse being built to accommodate all the binders, binding clips, paper clips, presentation sheets, and so forth that they must discard.

Oh my gosh, I just stacked it all up and had post-it notes sticking out the side to help them find stuff, and stuffed it in a brown envelope. No paperclips, no fancy binders, no folders, no nothing. For the photos I sent, no pretty albums or scrapbooks. Wrote names and dates on the back and put them in a ziplock bag. Got approved just like someone who spent $15 on packaging to make it look nice. It's not the presentation that matters, it's what you send.

 I looked at that, don't think it's a good idea. They'd have to take each page out of those pockets one at a time. If they see something like that, they might put off doing yours until the very last, because it would be a huge pain for them. Gather your papers, put them in an envelope, and send it. No frills needed.

Kudos to everyone for being so creative and putting together such well organized and aesthetically appealing packages!

Unfortunately, as payxibka said, USCIS disassembled your beautiful work and reassembled it to fit into their own filing system. Many of those fancy binders and pocket pages probably ended up in the trash. :(

There actually ARE recommendations from USCIS on how they would prefer you to assemble your package. These recommendations will help them reassemble your package into their file system. Read the USCIS recommendations and try to follow them, and you won't be wasting your time or theirs:

http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=ff053d146a7ee010VgnVCM1000000ecd190aRCRD&vgnextchannel=fe529c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD

Two holes punched at the TOP (not the sides) of each page, all held together with an ACCO style fastener, like this:

825489_sk_lg.jpg

If you want to use separator pages with tabs on them, then place the tabs at the bottom of the separator pages - not at the sides.

If you want to reinforce the whole thing so it doesn't get crunched in transit then tear the 8.5x11 thick cardboard sheet from a pad of paper, punch two holes in it, and attach everything to the cardboard with the ACCO fastener. This will make a rugged modular package, and USCIS will only have to open the fastener, remove the stack of papers, and place the stack in their own file. The rest of your beautiful organizing and formatting will remain intact.

12/15/2009 - K1 Visa Interview - APPROVED!

12/29/2009 - Married in Oakland, CA!

08/18/2010 - AOS Interview - APPROVED!

05/01/2013 - Removal of Conditions - APPROVED!

I stacked mine in the order as it appears on here with a page identifying what was behind it. I used paper clips to hold different categories together. I-129, I-325.. hers and mine. I sent it in a large brown legal that holds full pages flat and sent it like that. I was approved June 30...
