Ummmm, I lost a friend that day

No one's disregarding anything, just pointing out that there have been far greater threats to our existence and people faced them with great bravery that involved going about life in as normal a way as possible

I agree to a point ..one thing you have to remember is that everyone handles situations in their own different way. We as individuals have that right. You also have to admit that we live in different times. Back in WW2 ( I believe that is the war you were referring to), the ppl didn't have internet, didn't have up to the minute coverage, didn't have mobiles....they were always in constant wonder of what was going to happen next. You are talking about a different time, different attitudes. For the most part, I do believe that with 911 and the London Tube, people did move forward and did not let these catastrophies effect their everyday life. You also have to realise and agree, that what happened on the London Tube yes was very bad, but was no where near as catastrophic as 911. I am not saying that to slight what happened in anyway. I am just trying to point out why what happened today scares the bajesus out of me and does make me more leary of flying. If you watched the news today, those planes were headed for NEW YORK, WASHINGTON, and CALIFORNIA. As a New Yorker, that scares me. But like I said, will I let it deter me from flying to see my children? HELL NO!

If they've got any sense the accused will have their heads lopped off! Hells, they were willing to die anyway :diablo: Sick freaks, I home karma comes and bites them on the ###!!

The time of the London bombs my brother was in London, he had decided to take a taxi instead of getting the tube. I never thought his lazyness might save his life

I'm not even going to pretend I know anything of the courage and strength those during the war had, needless to say I have oodles of admiration for them (L)

No ####### is going to get in the way of me and my chickpea!!!

I had a friend who ran out of the WTC when his boss told him to stay put -- I never thought his insolence would save his life.

Back in WW2 people didn't have the internet to learn about the news -- most Britons didn't need it, since bombs were raining on their homes pretty much every night - my father-in-law watched the Battle of Britain being fought over his house as he lay in bed and wondered if a land invasion was imminent. A friend of mine's grandmother in Birmingham recalled turning around on their way to the bomb shelter at the end of the garden and discovering her sister was hit by shrapnel, as friend's gran matter-of-factly will then tell you "and then we 5 children were 4." All I'm asking for is perspective -- at the end of the day, we don't *need* to travel on airplanes. But I certainly will continue to do so. We are no were NEAR that level of sacrifice or terror, so I think we might have something to learn from them as we face new threats.

I live 5 miles from LAX (actually what scared me the most this morning was the traffic), so I guess this affects me too. Yeah, it's scary, just like that day last year was affected me -- it could have been me, and every day I am thankful that I am alive, unlike my friend who left behind a lot people who loved her.

What was so great about London in the days that followed was how quickly things returned to normal (well, unless you were that poor Brazilian guy). It was easy to do when people reminded us that the city had lived through much more terrible times (including the relatively recent IRA campaign). There was a determination that the terrorists did not win that day -- like the website said "we are not afraid"

And as the years pass, it will ONLY get worse.

Worse? we never know ... once the problem at hand is dealt with there will be time and then another group of sickos will come around..

Do the sickos get worse? I don't know .. how do you measure worse.. Our lives are like a wave.. we have our ups we have our downs.. All we can do is believe that the "right" will prevail.. I didn't say christians or jews, or buddhists.. I say the right.. the reason being.. Is human life is right.. the people that believe that life is worth having will prevail in the end.

By the number of innocents killed by terrorists. The number will go up. That's how.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Just dont pack toothpast when you go to airport (F) .

At least it seems like they caught them (all hopefully). To early to say but perhaps a good ending to this considering the alternative.

10Yr GC arrived 07/02/09 - Naturalization is next

The drama begins - again!

And now the drama ends - they took the Green card . . .

Time for people to wake up and realize that the free world is at war with Facist Muslim crazies. Such PC things such as profiling will be going by the wayside and this will play hell with any pending immigration reform. I expect that any immigration reform bill will be much more strict than expected, and all the illegals here and keep coming are going to be sadly disappointed.

Do you realize that more than 120K illegals from countries OTM (Other than Mexico) are apprehended by ICE every year tring to cross the border. These ppl are simply given citations and told to report to some immigration court, since all detention facilities cant handle them. 110,000 of these ppl never show up for their hearing (cant say that I dont blame them). This also has to change.

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.
