What are all the things needed at the POE?

I know the unopened letter and passport of course, but what else?

Ok cool, I was told that we needed to bring the chest xray too...? You didn't need that? We had a house fire and that was damaged so I wanted to see if I needed to arrange to get a new one.

VJ wiki's are so rife with poorly written proses. Many a-times I intended to create and account and edit this stuff to make them of some quality. Just a quick edit of the pages would produce something much better. Here's one quick example on POE wiki.

Upon arriving on a Port of Entry (henceforth POE) with sealed brown envelope, you, a new immigrant, will directed to a non citizens’ line/queue. An officer will inspect your passport and brown envelope. Then you’ll be directed to a secondary inspector. In some cases, the first inspector completes both inspection steps. Secondary inspector will check to see if the envelope has been tempered with or otherwise mishandled. Then s/he will check the documents inside. Once the inspection is done, photographs and fingerprints are taken. This may take at least 30 minutes or more.

Be sure to let the inspector know if your contact address in USA has changed. This is important as your Welcome-to-US letter and green cards are sent to this address. Also let the inspector know if it has been 2 years since your wedding on this day of entry. If so, your CR visa will be changed to IR. This means you’ll receive a 10-years green card instead of 2-years. This saves a lot of money as you’ll not have to change your status after 23 months of residing in US. That’s it. The inspector will welcome you to America.

Relax and go catch your connecting flights, if you have one. It’s advisable to at least allow 4 hours between your POE time and connecting flight. It's better to have some time to relax than to either have to rush or miss your connecting flight
