Nope, no one's been mean to me. Besides, I have a rather thick skin. I mean, it's teh freaking interwebz.

I'm trying to remember if I've been "mean" to someone but mostly, I try to avoid judgemental comments--still slip up, sometimes, especially if it's something outrageous and the OP will defend it vigorously. I'm the type to call a spade a spade, 'cause I'm stupidity-intolerant, like that. But I try to restrain myself. (BTW, it really helps to type out a rude response and then NOT post it. You get to get it out of yer system but you don't seem like a jerk in virtual world). Usually, I preface it with a off-topic/my 2 cents kinda thingie.

Sometimes, I get impatient with people who refuse to do ANY reading of their own (guides, forms) and will treat this like a Bank of America customer rep service where all your questions are answered in a jiffy. I will be the first to admit that I've had my share of noob threads (mostly, the I-864, god, I nearly necked myself with that) and I'm very glad that people did take the time to respond to them. But I also did a lot of my own research, used the search function, read old threads, accumulated information, printed out all the guides and wikis (seriously, I found the NVC shortcuts I printed off in last October under my bed), took Darnell's advice and used a green crayon!

At the end of the day, we're all here to help each other. I take VJ for it is, a great, free resource. Everyone has opinions. Take it or leave it.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Swear to God/Allah/Vishnu/Buddha - That Green Crayon is useful !!!!

I'm dead proud of this lass - though I wouldn't call her __my__ protoge - she's been a constantcy here on VJ - I spread my sporran in yer general direction (that's a good thing, btw). FWIW, I don't have any protoge here, I'm just a painful blister on the VJ backside... I've watched her posts grow from a n00b into a full-fledged opinion-throw-down 'full member' - Mondo Happy to watch her grow into an I-130 and NVC Encyclopaedia !!!!

So, dig out that green crayon, each and every time, start scrawling yer notes on greenbar paper, and GO FORTH !!!

(my apologies for the thread drift, seriously ! )

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I voted before but couldn't type a response *sigh*. If anyone has been hateful to me, I haven't noticed. I've noticed people being hateful for no particular reason. Probably bored, who knows? Don't get me wrong ... I get bored, I'm bored now ... but I'm bored not boring, and if you're reading this you're probably bored too (but not boring).

I have a habit of posting what I want to post and leaving. I don't feel the urge or need to engage in a war of words or meaningless debate. I've posted my opinion so I'm done then as far I'm concerned. Probably why I haven't noticed if anyone's been hateful to me ... :bonk:

yes a few have been...a couple of them put some messed up stuff on the other site cant remember what its called but was a place that vj people went so they didnt have to be so kind :) one of the people on vj sent me a link to it so i would know what was going on (thank you for that im not sure i ever thanked you for it) if not for that i would not have seen it but honestly i don't care they do not know me personally so it means nothing.

this is a forum you have to take the bad with the good so far its been mostly good......its like all dysfunctional families .. ignore what you don't like and be happy with what is to your liking

when posting on a forum people sometimes think what you say is hard when you didn't intend for it to be simply because you can not show by body langue or facial emotions how you meant the post to be.......so unless its an out right personal attack like what was done on the other forum i mentioned i tend to ignore most things

other times its like being back in high school and you have your typical trouble makers that get off on seeing how hard they can push a person

there are lots of different personalities and life styles on this forum its what makes us a family

sorry for the long post but the op did ask :P
