Yes, if your significant other plans on coming over right after the interview, the sooner you buy the ticket, the better! Prices will go up (even more) as time goes by! Are there traveling agencies that specialize in travel from that region? Sometimes they can get competitive deals.

Congratulations on getting an interview day already!

:wow: :wow: congrats!!!

Ya - lilib participated in NVC Electronic Processing with a Guangzhou-bound casefile.

One of the benefits (for Guangzhou casefiles) is that appointment is set between 1 to 5 days of 'case complete' at NVC. I know, is grand exception, but - when done this way - is never that 'wait for 2nd week of the month to set the interview'.

I know, I know - it's a big deal, really !!! If a Guangzhou casefile 'stayed paper', it adds 2 to 5 months of wait time, before even 'Casefile Opened' timetick - and then still the IV Unit at Guangzhou sets the appointment for 3 to 11 weeks in the future.

Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

By cover letter you mean your own document explaining what the package contains?

I hope it won't take them 10 days to look over it!! Especially now that they found it, someone could just check to make sure it was issued by the proper place and what it says.

Actually, if I said cover letter, I meant cover sheet. The one you get for paying for the DS-230.

10 days is no fun, but it is what it is. I'm not happy with delays, but when you go from "Is it going to get done?" to "you just have to wait 2 extra weeks". The delay seems like a miracle.

Thanks! I look at all those sites that are supposed to be cheaper, but then when I look at the airline sites, there is really no difference. My past trips, I have booked direct with the airline because I thought it was safer.

I was trying to book direct with the airline too for my last minute trip in June for hubby's interview (I only got a little over 3 weeks to prepare)...but if I book direct with United, it's gonna be over $2000 total. Vayama.com has the same flight for just less than $1500...I also compared international flight with Kayak.com also...I am also picky too with where I transfer flight as there's no direct flight between Seattle and Hong Kong...anyway...Take care, and good luck!!

Oh, I did not include the cover sheet with my package, and it was reviewed within a reasonable time frame. Guess consistency is not their best characteristic.

That's the attitude! It will save you some stress over something that is beyond your control.

Congrats on getting the interview date. Yes, flight is so expensive during June....IT costs me about $1500 for my round trip from Seattle to Hong Kong...well, I'm picky too as I do not like to trasfer within the US or Canada. And my husband's one way ticket (if he gets approve on the 7th) is looking at about $1000.....

Good luck and take care!

Best wishes to every one's journey!!

does SIF happens b4 the NVC confirms u about ur case close?? what about the AVR.

The SIF happens as a part of the process that closes a case.

When I got the SIF I called the AVR but it had not updated. It still said reviewing...allow 6-8 weeks .... blah blah...

I didn't call an operator then but they would probably have told me that the case was closed.

So, to answer your question, SIF happens, the operator knows about it right away, and the AVR updates the next day.

off-topic: TheMatrix, the last comment in your timeline is funny. I was reading it, got in with the crescendo, and was really hoping for a culmination in an interview... Sorry, it didn't happen.
