Hey VJ'ers I received a very nice surprise this morning in the post.

My Green Card (aka Permanent Resident Card ) in all it's gold backed goodness

We Filed for AOS back at the start of Jan and had my biometric Appointment back in Feb but not

having an interview before getting the GC I thought was unheard of.

I keep looking at it to see if it's real.

I do have a couple of questions. Do I now need to go back to the social security office to have

something done with my SSN or is that after lifting conditions of my 2yr Green Card?

I also filed for advance parole in case I had to leave the country for family medial emergencies.

Would it be prudent to carry a copy of my advance parole paperwork with me as well as this GC to

present to immigration on any return to the USA ? Or would I just be muddying the waters by doing so.?

Thanks in advance

re: advanced parole - no - you only need the greencard and yer passport to re-enter the usa.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Pretty common actually.

You may return to SSA in order to have the "Not Valid for Work Without DHS Authorization" annotation removed. Can do that now or later.

I also filed for advance parole in case I had to leave the country for family medial emergencies.

You'd be carrying something you don't need. The PR/Green Card is what you would need (you're a Permanent Resident now - AP is no longer needed).

Congratulations again.

**Moving thread from Working/Traveling to AOS Discussion Forum; seems it may be more appropriate there.

Yes, they then will issue a new card without the Need DHS Approval wording written on it.

I also filed for advance parole in case I had to leave the country for family medial emergencies.

Would it be prudent to carry a copy of my advance parole paperwork with me as well as this GC to

present to immigration on any return to the USA ? Or would I just be muddying the waters by doing so.?

Throw the AP out; it's useless. You have the GC which does the same plus more.

Thanks in advance

Yep tis very common not to have an interview. In a recent UK AOS thread, almost 3/4 of UK AOS-ers were approved without an interview. Myself included.

Congratulations....your good to go and USCIS free for a little while.
