Texas is the number one state in exports. Record people are moving here. (sadly) Job growth is steady. Record number of businesses are moving in. List is large but because of less government has shown to be very attractive. Also means that we can compete with anyone as we can beat any prices. Hard to compete with Texas but welcome any to try to. For others to compete then they will have to lessen government interference and the taxes that go with it.

People don't like paying taxes - and that's news? Also, what's with the 'my state is better than your state nah nah nah nah nah?'.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

I think the real rub,at least for me, is what the taxes are being used for. If it is spent on things we don't agree with then that person would probably say he is over taxed. If it is spent on things he likes then he would say the taxes are OK. As for me I would like to see us get out of Iraq and Afgan. That money is being thrown down a rat hole. I wanted some real health care reform but got a clusterfukc instead. That money is also wasted. So I fall in the side of feeling overtaxed.

What in your opinion would be real health care reform, John?

Hard to compete? Might want to check out the average income per state. Realistically, who gives a ###### if more fortune 500 companies are in a state because of low taxes. It's my quality of life and income that matters. In addition, low taxing places tend to have a lower quality of life.

You seem to confuse taxation for socialism.

Texas' only exports are Oil, Natural Gas, and equipment related to those industries. Without that, there is virtually nothing. Texas is only attractive to business because there is no state taxes. It's nice to not have to pay state taxes, but just look at the infrastructure that is lacking.

The mess we got isn't going to help. IMO it will make things worse. Some aspects are good like the pre-exsisting conditions but most of the rest is just a sell out to the insurance companies. I have always been opposed to single payer but I am starting to rethink that position. I just don't have a lot of faith in the government to pull it off. Medicare is bankrupt and we just added 30 million people to it without any real cost control. The only outcomes I can see is a reduction in care or a huge increase in premiums. The government just doesn't have a very good track record with such things.

What infrastructure is "lacking" in Texas that isn't lacking in California or elsewhere?

They even got you beat on wind power.

You're joking right? I would suggest you do a little research before spouting ####### like that out here.

We also lead the nation in Cattle, Cotton, sheep, goats, Cereal Grains, and are up at the top on many other agriculteral parts as well.

That's not to mention we have the world's largest medical research facility.

You can joke about Texas all you want, but we are much more diverse in many ways than people want to give us credit for. Pure ignorance I suppose it to blame for this.

Apparently so, since close to 50% of *all* jobs created in America last year were in Texas.

Who wants to live in Texas?

Texas might attract certain types of business, but it all depends what kind of workers you need. Its still often a better deal to establish your company where the workers are and not where the taxes might be lower.

People migrate to where the jobs are. The population growth in DFW (especially Fort Worth..) in the past decade has been staggering and almost absurd.

I'm honestly sick of the influx of people to be honest though. Too many people ignorant to why Texas flourished when the rest of the nation wasn't so much....

So why are you in NYC city then? Why not walk the libertarian talk and move there rather than stay in the Über high taxing and Über leftwing NYC?

Nevertheless, what sort of jobs did they create?
