Anyone who filed in March 2010? We can update the progress in this thread.

I actually filled end of April 2010, I just got my reciept notices for all 3 forms, i-130, i-485 and work employment.

I am waiting for the biometrics appnt now, I see here it is possible to walk in before your scheduled appnt? So you just take your letter and go to the place and wait?

First time I read about how they didnt want to do it? DO you know, Does it depend on something? or just on their mood /amount of people they have on a given day?

Good Luck ! (Yea its hard to wait patiently)

Thanks in advance for all the info :)

Sure it's possible! Take your letter, original marriage license and 2 types of ID (passport and driver's license). It doesn't say all this on the NOA but they ask for it in some ASC (for example Atlanta).

Go there early and wait in line. I hope they will let you in!

Hello, Feb Filers

I had interview yesterday and thought some of you might be interested in my story.

When we arrived at Federal building around 13:00, there wasn’t long line, but was moving slow.

We got into the building around 13:20 and turned in our appointment letter at window.

There were roughly 40 people in the room.

We were called around 14:10 (appointment was for 13:45).

IT was Hawaiian lady. I am Japanese with dark skin, so look like Hawaiian, we got married in Hawaii, We have been to Hawaii many times, and we will have wedding ceremony in Hawaii, so good indication!!

After sworn out, IO asked us to see if we had another supporting document that we want to submit, and I told her that I have pictures (I ran to CVS early in the morning on this day for one hour photo), she said that she would check later. She started off normal question’ Where and When did you guys meet?” I answered and she was satisfied, except 9 yrs relationship… that she wanted to focus on, “Why did you wait to get married till now? , was her parents happy about marriage? , who put effort keep relationship etc… “ not as IO, it was more likely questions from her relative, just one word, “OUT OF CURIOSITY” This took most part of our interview, as she was checking all document (I-485), she threw couple questions to my wife, just confirmation of info that were on I-485, and when IO reached to my wife’s passport, she pulled her I-94 out, as you know, it is another good sign, and she said, I will give you a residency card, and I acted like nothing, and looked at my wife, she looked like she didn’t hear anything (She actually missed that one), so I thought I mis-heard this or something, coz it was still middle of interview.

We had little bit of problem with address on our both driver’s license that show our parent’s house address. She just briefly explained how it could be a problem.

Overall, I felt like that we were talking with my grandma, she pointed out and addressed how marriage life should be and husband treats his wife etc…

At the end of meeting, she printed out a letter and stamped for approval.

It was long journey and I really think that we could not accomplish without everyone’s help here, so I greatly appreciated all help and encouragement I got from you guys.

I hope that I would see your successful stories shortly.

Thanks,

Seems like most of March filers never really got their EAD before they got their interview notice. Seems like they just make you wait till you get your GC. This sucks big. It sucks going to job interviews (which is already hard to come by) and having to tell them you probably have to wait for a work permit for at least 2 months. Employers don't want to wait that long.

AOS Timeline from F1

Sent AOS on April 17

Received and signed on April 19

Got 3 NOAs April 26

Biometrics Appointment Letter received May 1 - dated May 26

Walk-in biometrics rejected May 12

Biometrics Appointment May 26

Interview letter received June 11 - for July 19 APPROVED

I think it's good. You don't need EAD for 2 weeks. They make this process very fast nowadays. Also they save a lot of money on EADs (anyway we didn't pay for it). I understand when waiting is at least 6-12 months but couple weeks you will be fine.

Are you still in valid F-1 status? You might be able to apply for CPT, which will allow you to work while still maintaining student status. I think I saw one of your previous posts that you're graduating in May, but if you really want to do this, you can apply for a class during the summer and remain eligible for CPT. This is what my international student adviser suggested to me when I asked her about working while waiting for my EAD. (I'm graduating in June.) Fortunately for me, my EAD arrived 2 days before my job started, but if it had been delayed I still would have the CPT.

I am also talking to a army recruiter sometime next week to see if I can join with conditional green card.

I was just looking through your timeline and noticed it doesn't include interview. You didn't have it?

Why?

I'm curious, because my hubby is deployed to a hot zone right now and won't be back till late fall :( so I'm just thinking maybe some people don't have to attend an interview. What were yours circumstances?

Thank you

Not all K1's have an interview because we were interviewed for our K1 visa in our home country. It's a "luck of the draw" thing for us. Astrids a K1 AOS filer.
