Desktop purchased off ebay with Dell version of Windows-XP.

I have used laptops before, generally don't like the touchpad (I have a tiny mouse at home for this purpose, bought when my work required using a laptop).

Have once had to purchase a laptop (for my brother-in-law, a DMDO in Krishna District) which I purchased off ebay and loaded with OpenOffice (India Customs didn't even ask about it when I brought it there last year--basically, the India Customs experience was nice and US-Customs experience @ BWI was a travesty).

Desktops only for me....

I'm a computer snob and build my own and laptops will never be able to catch up and work for the things I need a desktop for.

Vanessa uses a laptop though...

We have two of each at home, and I have a desktop at work...

Mine's a 4 year old 14.1" Compaq - still working great for everything I want to do, his is an IBM notebook of some kind that he got from work (companies do still sometimes give away electronics when they are done with them!), I have/had a Dell desktop which was purchased maybe 6 years ago when my previous laptop died with the reasoning being that while going to school a backup in case of broken laptops would be prudent. Nik also has a desktop to do some more high power gaming.

When he got here, he made a nice little setup when he unplugged my Dell and uses dual monitors on his Shuttle, plus his docked lap top on the side. Then he can have one screen dedicated to email (me), Hulu, and gaming/surfing. When I get home, he brings the laptop downstairs while I cook dinner.

When he lands a job we are eyeing a new flat pannel TV and some sort of mini computer to run that - does that one count? We want to watch Hulu. :)

Suck that mac users :P

Nik and I had lunch with a die hard Mac friend of ours last weekend, so naturally the iPad came up. Turns out that since it doesn't "do" flash, or multi-task, my favorite activity (watching Hulu while playing Farmville) would not work. :( He spent a lot of time trying to tell us about how ick Flash was and how right Apple was to not put it on the iPad etc. I don't think anyone convinced anyone else. :)
