A Request

Hello OT people If some of you didn’t know what the Commies thread was, (due to it's ambiguous and highly confusing title) it is basically a hangout for a bunch of friends who have been chatting for quite some time. We always have new “commies” come in and start chatting, and most of them stay because they feel welcome there. We are there to support each other with mostly issues relating to immigration, or for those who have been through the process already (such as myself), getting through pregnancy or long separations from your SO, loss of a loved one, job changes, moves, and any problems you could possibly think of. Basically we’re there for each other and we have a good time.

As of late, there have been issues outside of the thread between people who frequent the C4C and those who don't. We just request that anyone, including our own friends, keep the negativity and bickering AWAY from the thread.

Thanks everybody for listening! And feel free to chime in everybody if I left anything out.

I would like to add some comments.

Once upon a time, long ago on May 1 2009, our good friends John&Jean created a new thread which no doubt they expected would last for a dozen posts, tops. Lo and behold, the one and only noobs thread was born. [Yes! Click that link! You know you want t a trip into nostalgia lane!]

there has been a rash of bad, wrong advise given by noobs posting like old pros. anyone else notice some people that have been members for a couple of months doing this???

It didn't really develop its own true character until roughly Post #69 by Almaty, but by that point, there was no stopping it!

That is, at least, until Ewok acted as Party Pooper in Chief in Post 3382 nearly 2 months later.

Most of us were heartbroken and outraged. I still am. I haven't gotten over the loss :crying:

A few days later, our good friend Rob&Mel, missing the noobs thread, got a new party started in the very first Commies for Christ thread:

Well, our other discussion thread was ominously usurped and closed down. I miss the thread and thought we could start a new one. Say anything thread is a bit too random for me. So , this is my attempt.

Intially C4C had the same irreverent and sarcastic sense of humor that noobs had. However, over time gradually C4C has morphed into the fairly mild tea part you have described Susita, while those of us who want a little more edge and bite in our threads find it on the chopfucks thread.

I'm not sad that C4C became so mild, mainly because (a) we have chopfucks (b) Nothing will ever replace the magic of the original noobs thread, not C4C, not anything.

So ... here's to a mild mannered C4C .. let all the badass chopfucks stay away. We can handle 'em on the chopfucks thread, which is really meant for that kind of ####### anyway.

Brother Scandal...we have 'aged' as a thread....but we in the C4C still love to blast a NooB and even at time dare the linkage to the forbidden 'upper threads' (can I hear an Amen!) <yet...See me...born again..as a F'in NooB!...so many Woes!> What we wont tolerate is in-fighting for for the sake of squat! Circular argumentation is for other lezzer threadz....come home to C4C for equal blasting of NooBs and honor of...well, whatever....

I'm not sure I read all the issues that caused the start of this thread, but I think if someone is being talked about badly in c4c they have a right to go make a comment, which is what I saw last night. But most of the time if I read there, it's chit chat between members as usual(in a friendly manner).

You may have missed an ongoing debate across multiple threads, that manifested into the C4C thread. This is the topic.

Edit to add: It really did not need to continue in that thread, as the purpose of C4C is lighthearted conversation.
