We just got the email today, still haven't gotten the letter. This is good news but it threw us for a loop. We got approved in less than 2 months. Is that normal?

Now what do we need to do? I basically know what we need to do, but is there anything not explained in the instructions that they're going to send me that I should know?

When should I call the NVC?

Thanks! I'm so happy!

Usually people go to the embassy website where their benificiary is getting interviewed at - and they should have the instructions for the rest of the process posted on their site.

(the embassy should contact also - usually via email)

(Why would you need to call NVC?)

Congrats btw :)

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

On the flow chart it says you can call the NVC to make sure they get the packet from the USCIS.

But basically we're just waiting til my fiancee gets her packet from the Tokyou Embassy right?

Congrats!

A quick NOA-2 is always awesome. John and I filed in Feb., and we got our NOA-2 exactly one month later.

Ah - well - since your on a K-1 - NVC will not have you in the system anyway (for the automated system that is) - and talking to a person is a trip in itself.

I would check with the Tokyo embassy (hey - i did :)) and it says this:

Step 3: Complete and send in DS-230 Part I

Upon receiving the visa applicant's file from NVC, the embassy/consulate will send him/her fiancé(e) visa instructions. It is not possible to send instructions until the Immigrant Visa Unit receives the visa applicant's file from NVC. After receiving instructions, each person applying for a visa regardless of age must complete the biographic data Form DS-230. The DS-230 should be completed and returned immediately by fax (Tokyo: 03-3224-5929 Naha: 098-876-4243) or mail to the embassy/consulate that sent you the instructions.

So now you wait - but ---- you can start filling/getting info needed as per the guide above...

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

Congratulations everyone!

My fiancé received a text message today: "On February 23, 2010, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)."

I was not expecting for a quick NOA-2, so it was a very nice surprise. We also got approved less than two months (35 days!).

I remember when my now-wife got our I-129F NOA2. She had mailed it in mid-to-late October and the approval showed up on January 7th. We had planned for me to stay in Canada to finish the school year (I'm a teacher) so we weren't in any real hurry for anything to happen as I wouldn't be leaving Canada until early-to-mid July anyways. We had a slightly risky plan in that we were planning the wedding (and had already put money down) for September 12.

Anyways I get a semi-panicked email from my now-wife telling me we're approved and worriedly asking "Is this too soon? Is this going to screw up the timing for the wedding?!?" :)

I had to dig out a calendar and work things out. Turned out that as long as I could contrive to delay the approval of the visa past the end of January, everything would be fine. Beginning-to-middle of February plus 6 months is beginning-to-middle of July, which is after the end of the school year. Beginning-to-middle of July plus 90 days is beginning-to-middle of October. So as long as the visa was issued in February or later, I would be able to stay in Canada until mid July, as planned. And arriving in July as planned allowed for September 12 to be well within the 90 day I-94 validity from the K-1.

Turned out I didn't get the Packet 3 forms faxed back to the consulate until early April, so everything worked out nice and smooth. But you won't find too many people on here who's first response to a nice quick approval of the fiance petition is worry over whether it's too soon!

Also, the OP can start gathering materials for the I-134.

Congratulations and good luck. I cannot believe how quickly everyone is receiving approval from CSC. Great job CSC!!! Please keep it up especially for February filers.

The people I talked to at NVC were nice. If I remember correctly you have to press 5 to talk to a person because they don't like K-1's in the automated system.

Congrats and good luck!
