hey everyone, I was wondering about something and would like to know if this has happened to any of you. I was talking with a friend of mine who brought his wife through the K-1 visa, and what he said sounded to good to be true, he said that he had sent in all the paperwork in January of 09 and that his wife was in the US by the middle of May of 09. I know the USCIS website says the usual processing time for the I-129f is 5 months, but is it possible that he actually got her here in 5 1/2 months? I mean has that happened to others before too?

Sent I-129f on 02/02/2010 Wish Me Luck!

Received I-797C Notice of Action or NOA1 dated 02/10/10 on 02/15/10

NOA2 Approved May 20, 2010

Married December 23, 2010!!

It's possible and I've seen this happen for some people. The I129F petition can take 5 months to be approved (maybe more, maybe less), and then different consulates have different waiting periods for interviews (the waiting period for my consulate is ~3 months). So unfortunately, like the poster above me said, it just all depends, and you can't really predict how it's all going to happen. I would be really happy if my fiance could be here in 5 months, but I'm prepared to wait a lot longer.

11/29/2010 Sent AOS package
12/10/2010 NOA1
01/07/2011 AOS transfer to CSC
01/11/2011 Biometrics
2/08/2011 AOS approved
2/22/2011 Green card in hand!

sure - it can happen.

IF that petition was sent to CSC then (they were super fast, then ) then is possible for 30 day turnaround, if no RFEs.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

California Service Center. There are two USCIS service centers that process K1 visa petitions; CSC (western US) and VSC - Vermont Service Center (eastern US).

Our visa process was about 7 months from petition to visa issuance, and that includes delays from Typhoon Ketsana and the horrendously slow Vietnam mail service.

Look u post all the paperwork that's all I-129 petition and some other forms, u need her document picture's and a letter from her in what she saying that she wanna b ur wife and it have to b with her signature, u need all original documentation I posted all this with DHL from my country 2 my man in US. It arrived after 2 days but it was really expensive. After u post it to the US immigration services they hold it for like a mount.

Really depends when they will receive it in NVC - National Visa Center they hold it there 4 about 3 weeks.

But they use DHL to transfer the stuff so normally they deliver from 3-5 work days.

So count 1 mount in the immigration office, 3-5 days delivery, 2 weeks in the NVC after this put from 5-7 days till it arrives in the US embassy based in ur fiance's country they keep it for like a week. By this time u gotta receive 2 letters from the immigrations so called NOA 1,2 when u receive NOA 2 the tell u that they send ur petition 2 NVC.

Well than ur baby gatta wait for letter from the embassy. It depends of the embassy how fast they can handle the things. Well after she receive her package there some forms in it she have to complete, she have to get a medical exam (depends on the clinic again when they have a free date) usually the embassy give u d address of the clinic u have to go to. Well she have to call the embassy and get a date for an interview all depends how bizzy are the people in the embassy. After this if she pass the interview, she will receive her visa in hand again delivered with DHL after ...let's say from 3-5 work days. But as u see all the speed of the process really depends of the embassy. My visa was ready in about 5 mounts.

Good luck wit this hope that everything will pass fast!

Definitely possible - I submitted paperwork beginning of September and my fiance's original interview date was to be December 8. We postponed the interview until January because I wanted to be present, but if he had gone Dec 8 & was approved he could have been here in a little over 3 months from the time of filing!

I suggest you study the timelines section here - play around with the sorting sections, see if you can gist and glean patterns (thats what I do, btw)

I got my NOA1 3 months ago and am still waiting. Based on the other timelines I've studied on this website, my petition is taking a long time. Making me a tad nervous, but I did expect a 5 months wait on the petition alone, never mind all the embassy stuff.

Edited by Crissie

11/10/09 - K1 NOA1 date
4/22/10 - NOA2 mailed
7/21/10 - interview
8/27/10 - arrival in US
9/4/10 - wedding
10/2/10 - sent off AoS pack
12/27/10 - GC interview (approved)
10/09/12 - mailed application I-751
10/11/12 - NOA for I-175

4/23/13 - I-175 approved

Mmm...it could be true, but it's not likely for Afghanistan. It's likely to be possible from another country, like the UK. Most MENA countries get mandatory AP - processing after the interview, which can be anywhere from days to months. The recent timelines we have for K-1s in Afghanistan are actually 5-7 months, but don't forget to add on AP...

Good luck!

From original petition submission to Visa issuance, we had a wait of approximately 4 1/2 months. From when we did the original submission to me being back in the US, it was a little over 5 1/2 months. The extended wait for my return was only down to the fact that I had a return ticket I could use but could not change. If that wasn't the case, I would have been on a plane back a few days after I got my visa!

Wooow down folks and wait a minute. The K-1 is a fiancee visa - not for wife. In the case of K-1 you petition for K-1 finacee visa then if approved the beneficiary applys for visa.

Our example - I129F sent June 19 2009, Visa approved December 15 2009. NOA1 to NOA2 was 3 months, NOA2 to packet 3 was about 1 month, Packet 3 to packet 4 was about 1 month and interview was about 1 month after receipt of packet 4 = total 6 months. This is just our example. Things vary from service center to service center and consulate to consulate.

In your comment above you say your friend brough wife through K-1 - this is not possible. Maybe not what you meant?
