P.S. Mr. Adjudicator - if you are reading this... I realize that your government issued desk has one leg shorter than the others, but if you could take my petition out from underneath the short leg and actually start working on it - that would be great... I'll throw in a new desk...

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

I worked in the Pentagon for 8 years....they do have lopped sided, 50 year old desks...

Hang in there buddy...it's coming soon!!

I think for me the sad part is that I hate my destiny being in someone else's hands. I was a helicopter pilot in the Army and I'm not a good passenger in any aspect. So-feeling completely like I have no control in regards to my I-129F (becaus I don't) is not a great feeling. Hell - I'm not even a good passenger in a car when someone else is behind the wheel.

AMEN BROTHER !!!!!!!!!!!!! You hit the nail on the head !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here, here, Alan. I'm a very stubborn person, I'm always in control of everything I can be (it helps that my fiancee is indecisive, but I promise I'm a joy in our relationship!) I've been a leader of my own, special little pack for as long as I can remember, and I hate knowing that my marriage and my relationship I've been working on for 4.5 years can be instantly smashed if some lazy government worker doesn't like the look of us, or that they can take as long as they damn well please to decide.

I think it's more obnoxious that Americans marrying Americans never have to go through this (assuming they're heterosexual, gays can't even GET married in most states, ugh).. they never have to prove that they genuinely love each other or that they're financially stable, any two morons could walk into a Justice of the Peace, get married, and walk out. But nooooo, if you want to be a TRAITOR and marry some non American SCUM, you have to go through a whole, tense waiting process for months, walking on egg shells the whole time, worrying with your S/O whether or not you'll be the lucky approval of the day. Harumph.

That was MY rant for the day. ;) I'll vent all my anger out when I'm cooking for 25 people on Sunday, phew. You better watch out, potatoes, you're 'bout to get MASHED.

Lohninck that was beautiful and well-said. I had the same rant with a few of my friends. The whole process is incredibly stressful and unromantic on a couple, but I've heard that the Embassy calls this a test of the strength of a couple's relationship. I was minding my own business, doing research overseas, and I fell in love. I remember two weeks into the relationship when I knew it was getting serious, I was thinking "oh man, this is going to mean paperwork, money, waiting, money, paperwork, red tape, money..." Lucky are those who get to visit their other half during the process. I can't afford it and to make things worse, I was pricing airfares for shortly after my fiancé's interview and prices have gone up 100% since the last time I looked.

Thanks for that rant, I needed to hear (and say) all that.

Welcome to VJ Dan.

Your approved I-129F petition was/will be sent to the NVC. At the NVC additional name/background checks are performed and your petition is forwarded to the embassy you specified on your I-129F.

We'd appreciate it if you'd complete your timeline in your profile. Also - I;d appreciate it if you'd lert my petition piggy-back yours to the NVC (I'll pay the postage)...

Good luck to you - start getting your interview required papers together if you haven't already started.

Alan

Yeah, unfortunately I'm one of those who aren't so lucky to be able to visit my other half during this incredibly stressful process. I probably won't be able to see him until June or July and I've not seen him since January, so it's no fun, and I do get to talk to him online almost every day, but it's not quite the same as we alllll know here.

I have our wedding planned for the last week in July, too, so even if we're somehow not done by then (I am HOPING we'll be done with it by late July.. what do you people think?) so even if it's not done, we'll still have the fun party with all our friends and family, even if we don't get to sign the marriage license. My stress level is at about 75% every day the NOA2 isn't in our hands, but I know once we get that and the things get rolling, and I finally have him here, I won't care how long everything else will take as long as I got my baby.

I still kick us for not applying back in August 2009 when we got unofficially engaged, but unless a time machine gets magically invented anytime soon, there's nothing we can do but keep our fingers crossed.

Have there really been so few April approvals so far or do people really just suck at filling in their timelines..? Don't fail us now, VSC. You still have Dec/Jan filers to make happy, you big jerks. :bonk:

Alan's rant of the day (Or why the USCIS sucks in 100 words or less)...

So, another long weekend (3 day weekend in this case) of no activity from my friends at CSC. Igor's list now lists January 29th as the magical date CSC is processing (hmmm, I thought January 8th came BEFORE January 29th - must be my public school education)...

Was a tough weekend. I talked to Vanessa each day and she asked "any news yet?" I told her no, but hopefully any day now. It has sort of become our running joke when we speak... Luckily Vanessa understands that there's nothing I can do to rush this. I know the petition was complete and properly filled out, no RFE's (but I'd almost rather receive one just to know they're actually looking at my paperwork).

I'm really happy for those that have gotten their approvals and are on to the next step, I just want to join their ranks. I actually contemplated a letter to my Congressman but realistically what can he do? I'm still within the 5 month posted USCIS CSC guidelines...

Anyway - Al's rant of the day. I know that there are some great people who have scheduled interviews in the next week or two - I wish you all the best of luck!!!

Have a great night. Rant (I mean speak to you all) tommorrow.

Alan

Hey Alan, you deserve the right to rant! It's hard to keep quiet when March filers are getting NOA2s in 30 days... There's really no fairness in the USCIS process. One would think first one in, first one out in any normal situation. I hope it comes to you soon.

Mark...they still don't know where your petition is??? Still enroute?? A frickin month later?? Have you contacted your congressman? Most have websites and ask you to fill out disclosure form. But most all have an arm that works with USCIS...DoS. Really can't hurt anything to have them check on it, it's free....well we pay for it in taxes.

Best of luck guys!!

Well I checked the USCIS site yet again today and of course - no action. I finally had enough and called my Congressman and spoke to one of his aides. In a nutshell I told her what the situation is and she said the congressman has a full time employee that strictly deals with federal Governmental issues (ie: USCIS, IRS, etc). She said she would send me a privacy form authorizing the release of private information (which I received 10 minutes later).

I cited on my form the inequity of this system and that folks were recieving their NOA2's within 3 weeks of their application while I've been sitting in initial review since January 8th.

We shall see what happens...

Good for you! You should have complained a long time ago. Maybe it's in my New Jersian nature to complain about everything as soon as there's a hint of injustice, but you've been patient for too long. I hope this means you get yours soon, it's insane for the CSC to be so slow. Vermont, it's understandable, they're a little special, but geez. Best of luck!

"As the stomach turns, so are the days of our lives dealing with USCIS"...
