Updated stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok - I called the Congressman's office this morning, spoke to the aide who handles immigration issues. She said she had received all my documentation I sent her and would make the inquiry and call me back. 15 minutes later she calls me and says that USCIS CSC told her I was still within the 5 month processing guideline and that was the end of the story. I thanked her for her help and hung up.

I pondered that for a few moments and called the Congressman's office back. A nice kid (an unpaid intern) answered the phone and I told him the story about how my petition hadn't been touched since early January, etc... He pulled the documents I had sent them and told me to hang on.

Next thing I know I hear the noise you make when you're using dialing a number. USCIS comes on the phone and the intern tells the customer service rep that Congressman Kucinich is waiting on hold to speak to someone (somehow I got confrenced in on this). THE CONGRESSMAN himself got on the phone and I hear him ask the CSC employee about the status of my petition. The CSC employee told the congressman that I was within the 5 month processing guidelines. The congressman then asked to speak to an adjudicating supervisor and the wait time was less than 30 seconds before another voice came on the phone...

The congressman asked the supervisor about my case, explained that MANY other cases had been adjudicated and approved after my petition was submitted. The supervisor told the congressman he'd look into it and that was the end of the call.

20 minutes later I received a call from the Congressman's office telling me that my case is being processed and they were able to give me Vanessa's "A" number (her alien number). The Congressman's aide told me I should have my NOA2 by Monday unless there is a reson to issue a RFE...

I have no idea what Vanessa's "A" number is for, but at least I know my petition is no longer sitting in the corner of a dark closet at CSC... Hopefully good news to follow soon!!

I'm still sitting here in shock at actually hearing the Congressman on the phone with the USCIS. They were sure a lot nicer to him than they were to me ... lol...

I'll keep you updated!!!

Alan

Good deal Alan!!! I think it's always amazing how a congressional interest can "help" move things along! I know from my experience in the federal system, we would drop everything to address congressional concerns. It's sad you had to resort to this, but you were running out of options, and could have been waiting for several more months.

I actually had the privacy letter for Senator Boxer filled out when I was in Additional Processing at NVC. It was ready to fire off to the Senator on the 30 day mark. And I know the 2 weeks we spent in AP is not much, but when you call and they can tell you NOTHING but call back in week, and can't tell if you'll be in AP for a year or longer.....well.... that kind of service drives you to consider congressional intervention.

Congrats Alan! Things should get back on track now and you guys will be together in a few months!

Good Morning all!

Guess who got a touch yesterday (4/9/2010) from USCIS???????? Maybe this madness WILL be over sometime soon...

I am curious as to why the Congressman's office gave me Vanessa's "A" number yesterday. I thought that they did not assign these numbers until sometime further down the road. Anyone have any ideas about this?

I want to be touched again today!!!! I like being touched!!!!!! :innocent: lol.

That's good to know. So, the embassy case number would go on to be the Alien number?

NO!

Alien number is an Alien number. Has nothing to do with the embassy case number.

Look at your NOA-2. The A# next to your beneficiary is the one you will be using later on. That number will stay with her forever.

I'm a naturalized citizen and even when I was filing our I-129F I had to put it down in my info pane.

Wow, yep, I just noticed that number is on the NOA2. Thx for pointing that out.

Yeah, I been thinking about those raised fees too. There's some posts on VJ that some embassies are already charging the new fees. I was thinking when I went into AP that they would hold us in lock-up until they raised the fees. Our appointment letter for USEM Manila still has the old fee. The comment period on the fee increase ended Mar 11, so they could charge it anytime now.

I can accurately tell you when the new interview fees will go into effect - the day BEFORE Vanessa's interview...

Doesn't matter, after all the B.S. with this I'll be happy (as happy as I can be) to pay the increased fee just to get my girls home with me.

Hey Alan, some folks say touches mean nothing, but in your case I think they are sending your petition to NVC. My NOA2 was issued Mar 9, and I was touched Mar 8, 9 and 10. I received an email and txt msg on Mar 9 that the petition was approved. My petition arrived at NVC on Mar 12 and was in AP till Mar 26. If all goes right, you should be getting email/txt msg soon saying your petition was approved and is being sent to NVC.
