Hello Everyone!

I have several pages to go back and read to catch up. Granddaughter #2 (Natalie) made her debut on the 9th, and I've been taking care of my first granddaughter (Emilie (two years old)) while mommy and daddy are living at the hospital with the new baby.

I hope to see lots of interviews, POE's, and A&D's NOA2 when I back track. I will catch up soon. If any of you lovers are heading out for the holidays be careful and enjoy every minute.

To all have a fantastic day!!!

I'm not sure how it works with your consulate...

mine is montreal and you can't schedule an appointment, they schedule it for you...and they won't schedule it until they received Packet 3 back from you..

Maybe check the forums for your embassy? It might be able to tell you

Ney, congratulations!!! :star:

It's gonna happen, sweetie. We all know it's gonna happen for you. I'm a firm believer in the saying that a watched kettle doesn't boil. As far as I'm aware you haven't been stalking like crazy in a while so it must be about to boil!!!

I don't know if any of our other members are waiting for NOA2's, but at this point, they havent been posting so it's not a concern of mine. My family is my concern.

Thanks Kayla for nice words... :star:

Sometimes I have a feeling that this will happen soon, but then I check Igor's list and realize they are slowed down and approved 6-7 people since the beginning of this month...what to say!!!

Hey, don't be sad. It's December, the month when a lot of miracles happen ;) I'm sure you will get your good news right before Christmas.

I am confused about something. Maybe someone in here can help me. If my POE will be JFK, do I get a work permit? I read that some people didn't get theirs. We thought about flying through JFK just to get my work permit, but at the same time I don't wanna risk losing my connection flight to Atlanta, since things can go pretty slow when you're going through Immigration.

I believe in miracle... :star:

Aand:Trust me, I felt your pain't not too long ago so the memory of it is still fresh. But think of it this way, years ago, maybe even months, it'd take almost/over a year, nowadays the average wait time is 5 months. Not to discourage you but I called & the person practically reminded me that the average wait time is 5 months & unfortunately, it is not first come first serve.

Oobatnep, I was never touched, just straight NOA2; so we can't even judge by touches that we're not close to an approval.

I've been told and I also read that they give you a work permit / EAD - employment authorization document (its actually a stamp i think) when you enter USA through JFK. It is the only POE that will give you a temporary work permit (has a 90 days availability i think).

You can read about it in people's reviews in POE section on Visa Journey.

It used to be the case, but unfortunately that stamp is no longer valid and does not give you the right to work.

I have seen several threads about it.

About cat training double sided tape works great too and it's not as ugly as the blue tape. Make spirals and put it on the counter top, cats hate tape.

Ney, Congrats on the new addition to your family!

As for the stamp at JFK. It is no longer a valid form of work authorization, for K1 visas, as of Feb. 2009, but I do know of people who have still gotten it when going through JFK. Do not know why they are still issuing it, if it is no longer valid. I had a past employee, who came in on K1 in July, who was given the stamp.. so I know they were still giving it then. But.. employers are not supposed to accept it as an authorized EAD. When he came to me asking for a job, I was not sure and checked with someone I know at DOS. Also had our company legal team check into it. In both cases I was told he could work.. but in both cases I was given the wrong information. I was at a conference in October, and someone from DOS and DHS was there and I asked them.. they said it's not an authorized EAD, but that sometimes JFK still gives it out.

If you get the stamp at JFK, and an employer does not know enough to know it is not valid for work authorization.. you take a risk and so does the employer. DHS is really cracking down on illegal workers and we get emails, almost monthly, telling us about the new employer investigations DHS is doing on I-9 work authorizations and the penalties employers pay for letting someone work illegally.

Personally, I wouldn't risk it. It's only a few months to get an appropriate EAD ( Depending on how soon you get married after arriving).

And the president of that weddingstar called me back. I'm getting my order for the $23 I paid for it. :) He was so super nice and was angry that some unknown man would call and be mean to me like that. He said his CSRs are only girls. So that's really weird. Anyway I forwarded him the email I got and he's going to look into it.
