why oh why hasn't our petition been touched since it arrived on the first desk almost 3 weeks ago? I feel ignored :crying:

I keep seeing the same date over and over, sept. 21, and nothing changes. I read that in Vermont they are going much faster now than in the past months. why is California so slow? :(

But on the brighter side, some have said they didn't see a touch then one day it popped up approved.

Then I really hope that this "untouching" our file is only a good sign ;)

Fingers crossed

Wow you were approved Friday! Congratulations! You must be over the moon, right now!

Thanks for stopping in and shining a little hope in here. I'm sure you remember the first weeks as gut wrenching as well.

Good luck with Phase II of this seemingly never ending journey!

Hey Sept filers! I was on the site a lot when prepping, but this is my first post. Maybe that's for the best, as I see people are going a bit crazy waiting. Here's are a couple little concerns; I have generally researched them, but I'll put them out there in case anyone in the group can relate.

- Denied 2x for tourist visa. :crying:

- I'm not sure about what I gave them as Andrea's address; it wasn't as detailed as it could've been. But her correspondance will be with couriers, not the postal service, so I think it will be handled well and they will call her if they need more info.

- Still contemplating whether I will accompany her to her visa interview. That's a very big extra expense and is not required, but I've heard it helps. What are others thinking who have an expensive flight?

- What is this "touch" business all about? Someone fill me in.

Other than that, I followed VJ guidelines very closely and my application was about 45 pages with all the proofs. I tried to be as thorough as possible so I don't get an RFE.

Anyone applying in Colombia? "friend" me.

Hey, Welcome!

Im hoping Matt will be coming for the interview, but we'll see in due time. I have read it helps too but as you said, it's not necessary.

As for touches, once you have created an account, you can check if the date of the last update has changed, and if it has, somebody has touched your file - they scanned the bar code on your file. Which can mean anything and nothing. My file was last touched 2 days after they got my file, and I suspect it was when they put my file in the storage box.

Some people get a few touches, some never do, and some get one just before getting approved or an RFE. It can mean something as simple as the file was moved from one desk to another.

Anyway! good luck! Hope you dont go too crazy waiting!

The Tourist Visa denials won't affect the K1 visa. We had two tourist denials as well, and I was worried about that, but was told it will not cause an issue. With the Tourist Visa, we were denied because couldn't show enough proof that Fuat would return to Turkey. With the K1 he's not returning, so it's a whole different ball game.

As for going to the interview.. that depends on the consulate. Some allow it.. some don't. Luckily, the consulate in Turkey allows it so I will definitely be going to the interview.

If you go to the embassy reviews link, or the regional discussions, and find the thread for your consulate you should be able to find out whether or not they will let you in. If you can go it's a big plus..especially in a case where there may be some doubts of the info.

Just wanted to post this link. A former adjudicator was applying for a K1 visa and agreed to answer questions from VJers about the process and such. It is a little dated, but still very interesting.

the more I think about how long it will take and the more I keep checking the USCIS website to see if something moved...well, the more stomachache I get, seriously.

I hate the waiting, knowing that then you have to wait for the next step. And the thought of waiting for Naples! UGH! We will have a wedding in the US and have already made a deposit on a location in Italy for a ceremony in September 2010. I get a little crazy and a bit of a stomachache myself pondering if we will get the approval to leave the country again in time for us to go back to Italy! And I think I will need to seek a professional counselor about my uncontrollable urge to log on to the USCIS website somany times a day. But let's hang in there.. there are success stories everyday. Without this website, I think I would be in worse shape going through it "alone"..
