Maybe he should do one of the driving schools where they can monitor his driving habits and make recommendations. I got one for Claudeth and she did really well but has been kind of lazy in applying for a learner's permit

You should drive like a old lady. If you are to casual and drive "normal" they may fail you.

Go the speed limit by schools even tho other drivers will pile up behind you and honk at you.

Make complete stops and count to 10 when you do so. Yeah more drivers piling up behind you and flipping you off!

Both hands at 10 and 2. NO one arm driving!

 The right turn one he probably just didn't come to a complete stop and wait before proceeding. I failed once for pedestrian because I barely touched the curb when making a 3 point turn. They told me it equals killing someone....automatic fail. They are a little tough. Haole is right you have to drive like a grannie.

Well, they watch you for speeding, if you're checking your mirrors and blind spots, if you use your turn signal, and just basic stuff. Since he know the route now, he should go thru it, watch for all the speed changes (I know here they make us go on a road that changes speed like 3 times in like a mile) and all the stuff. I guess read the book again, or just remember 15mph for railroad tracks, 25 for residential unless posted otherwise, etc. Other than that, it shouldn't be too bad.

Well, let me chip in here.

I also failed driving test once. I was taken to an empty parking lot meant for test driving. There was not a soul in eyesight.

Was asked to do parallel parking within three attempts. First one was good but not close enough to the curb. The second one

was perfect BUT I failed because I was supposed to imagine I am on a busy street and I had to flash the blinkers. It just did

not occur to me that you have to do that in an isolated place.

I would suggest going to a driving school, driving in Cali is crazy.. I know, I was born & raised there. :ot2: but the driving instructor would be able to monitor his driving and give him pointers, so when he goes to re-test, he will be ready.. Bless & Respect :)

This is a thread posted by HikerMike with a link to CA DMV sample test and Youtube videos. I used these link while reviewing for my driver license exam in AZ. I passed my written and actual driving test in one taking. Very helpful link.

That's the way it is in many states. Out-of-country license=retake both written and driving tests.
