I was mentioning to my buddy that I imagine most single men ( and I am sure a few women) hire a professional cleaning service before their sweetheart arrives from overseas.

For me? Hell I needed a forensics team just to identify things in the fridge. They even found the place the left socks were hiding out. Theres a hazmat truck outside and one of them robot things they send in to look at the environment.

So ok, you get the idea. Who is a slob? Its time to come clean..............

 This would be my fiance (USC) who is at times! There is times I have walked into his place when visiting and the place was a disaster! Loose change all over the floor, bags of laundry, shoes scattered all over the place, garbage overflowing! Ugh! It was gross! He is getting better though, but the place only stays tidy when I am around. He keeps things out of order, but the place is still "clean" Thank goodness for dishwashers.

I learned to clean in the Navy. No need for me to hire anyone.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Mel has cleaning ladies that come every 2 weeks. They have been coming for years, long before we met.

They do a general once over- dusting, bathrooms, sweep, vacuum, mop, make up the beds.

The place was pretty nasty when I got here- some things had not been done since his Grandma died many years ago. And there are some things I just won't do- it is his #######, he is a frigging pack rat, and he should deal with it.

huh my SO has the best solution..... he is moving to a new house before i come. he was worried before that his closet is too small for us owing to his experience with me when he visited that in two weeks we were in a hotel, i got too many things to move back to my place after it. .. there'll be a lot of work for us to do when i come in less than 2 months but at least this is a house thats newly renuvated so i bet its clean. just needs to organize and settle. to his credit, he is fairly clean except that he is often too busy at work so am not surprise when he sent picture of his backyard and commented that u hardly see bubbles (the dog) when he is playing there. :innocent: really tall grass...

hope u get that cleaning done soon.

I cleaned for 3 days before Luz got here. I still wasn't satisfied with the results but it seems it was good enough. Luz didn't demand to get on the next plane home after all!

Gary, I'm going with your answer as the most sensible of the bunch. 1) Why give a false impression of the level of cleanliness that you naturally maintain. 2) Make the place reasonably clean, just clean out flagrant clutter and filth and piles. 3) If your place is too clean, your new foreign bride will be too bored while being at home all day while her man is working. Gotta give her some projects around the house to do!

I am not much of a cleaner, so I don't really care if my husband doesn't clean either. As long as there are no roaches and rats running around, I am cool. He does throw the garbage at right time, I do the dishes every night and that's about it. Once in a while, I do clear up all the coins and papers lying on the floor, all the cigarette ashes on his computer table.

Yup we both are slobs :P

I am a clean freak. I hate messes and I flip out if someone makes a mess anywhere in or around or near my house. I organize things alphabetically and everything. I'm insane. I need help.

Life is a ticket to the greatest show on earth.

I think my fiance is more likely to hire the service after I arrive. He runs a clean ship but doesn't want to get on my bad side by asking me to do the same, instead he runs around after with me with a dust buster and thinks that I don't notice.
