Hello fellow VJers!

I am outraged at the fact that VSC is operating at such a slow pace. In the last few months they have slowed in aproving petitions drasticaly. Our lives are tied in this, our finances, our jobs, future, even our health. I myself I am putting off buying a home and loosing a lot of money in finance charges and the $8000 goverment stimulus because they are moving so slow. CSC is working on petitions from May while VSC is still November and December. This is not acceptable and unless we bring this to their attention nothing will happen.

I know that we are at their mercy but we can stir the waters and write some letters to USCIS ombudsman, to senators, congressmen, even to the white house. I believe that if they get enough letters maybe someone might take a look at this problem and try to do something about it. One: it is our right as US citizens to pursue hapiness and two: it is a service we paid for. If we do nothing about it nothing will happen but if we draw some attention to this problem, maybe something might happen and have them hire more, train more, or at least try to do something to rectify the situation. If we don't write, call, complain they will not act on anything.

Mr. President spoke about "change" lets ask for change in this department!

Letz imagine a best case scenario. 200 angry VJ'ers show up in front of the white house with torches, signs, and chanting.

Would we REALLY make a difference? Or would it just make us feel good and powerful for a brief moment in time?

I know your kind of new here but many members maybe (100's or even 1000's) have already done what you sugested and nothing has changed. You just need to be patient, your time will come. Your more then welcome to write and complain all you want but the fact will remain, nothing will change.

Why is everyone shooting him down? None of us is happy with the way this process is handled and that VSC is so far behind CSC. If he wants to try to organize a letter-writing campaign, why discourage him? Are we so beaten down by "the man" that we believe that this process is actually satisfactory? In this day and age and with the technology available to us, NOTHING should take as long as this does.

I agree. I'm really not sure how to go about bringing any change though. I feel like I've just been wearing my hopes down trying to bother congresspeople and USCIS customer service people. I want this horrible system to end and for the government to be out of my life, but we need some ideas here. This is just crazy and I don't want to see it go on. Let's not shoot down the OP, let's be constructive and improve things.

I do have a concern though that this is like graduate students wanting to change their school. The administration just deflects their complaints because they know that once they graduate they won't care anymore about those problems they were once so passionate about and things can then continue on as normal. Not the best simile, but you know what I'm saying.

immigration is difficult in every country, un-organized, etc.... you can write all the letter you want but it is what it is because it's part of the process, many have wrote letters and many have failed... after you submit the I-129F you'll have to let it take it's course and leave it on Cruse Control. I and most people understand your feeling because we were at that process, there isn't much you can do... just keep your self busy and not think too much...

I also have been here for awhile, this comes around about every few months to do letters, petitions etc, Has it ever helped NO not that i remember. You can contact your state rep and have them check the process IF your case has fallen behind, sometimes them calling can bring it out of the drawer a little quicker but it must be past the normal timelines. Your not alone we have all been there done that and in the end we all just wait and then wait some more , some more than a year or two

Wow.. I'm actually very surprised by the "throwing hands in the air, giving up" nature of most of you. Change will NEVER happen if everyone has that kind of attitude. Maybe you just don't care enough about people who have to go through this process in the future? I'm well aware that complaining now probably won't help MY case, however it may help people who have to go through this in the future.

Actually, things have changed over time. Much of the change was based on feedback from people just like us. Wait times have actually improved and backlogs are being cleared. Some of the changes take time to implement. Many of the petition transfers were based on reorganization within USCIS. The increased fees are a result of the demand for change--they go to increasing the capacity of USCIS to process cases. Do you want to further increase their capacity? Should they have another fee increase?

John & Marlene: (These are simple estimates) USCIS increased the fees dramatically AND the workload increased dramatically. So instead of 10 people submitting $200 each ($2000), you now have 20 people submitting $400 each ($8000) So the amount of money quadrupled yet the speed decreased.... not cool.
