"He is an 11-year-old boy not living the life of an 11-year-old."

And that right there is why daddy's a douchebag...

Oye...

Would you let your kid sell his toys even if you knew it wouldn't do anything? Let's just cut the bullsh!t.

I think he would. But Steven's no douchebag, just a sentimental sap who mistakes the mirage for the oasis.

I think we all would melt at this kid offering to sell his toys to help, but even Steven wouldn't let him do it.

If it meant getting on Rachel maddow, he might :jest:

That's the thing, I don't think the Colonel would do this. Somehow he's been suckered into this story, probably for some librul ####### like the kid is learning that things are not what bring happiness. That's true enough, and a lesson that needs to be learned, but as A.J said, not in this manner. What the kid is learning is not what he seems to think the kid is learning - and more so that as someone suggested some 'benefactor' will probably give the kid more expsenive ####### in response to this publicity. I just hate this type of feel good stuff because it is worse than useless. It sends totally the wrong messages all around.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

I wouldn't. I wouldn't let him sell something of value that belonged to him to pay off my debts either. That's pure bullshit.

Did you even watch the video??? The boy has done other charity work. It's mighty presumptuous for you to believe the boy and/or his father are doing this for publicity. Take your fiber now and re-read this whole thread after you've had a decent bowel movement.

I would only let him sell his toys if they were full of yeyo.... then I'd want full street value.

The specific act I and others are talking about is the selling of the toys. A symbolic gesture of no practical significance. Once sold, the boy has no toys to play with and the giant douchebag of a father is still flat broke.

I notice you haven't answered the question ;)

You don't need to watch the vid...the other charity work is mentioned in the article. And teaching the kid to be charitable is a lot different than allowing him to sell his toys in efforts to not be homeless.

Watch it with the personal comments - they are totally unnecessary and add nothing to conversation.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

What excuses this stunt then Colonel? What would prompt you to accept your kid selling off his toys and give you the proceeds to pay off a debt you incurred, even should the toys be worth something?
