I know many of us do a "quickie" wedding after our SO's enter on K-1 visas, and some hold out so they can plan larger affairs. I'm curious to see what people's wedding sizes were (or if you're not married yet, what you're planning).

Also, if you did a quickie wedding, many people send out announcements afterwords (we will be). How many did you send out?

I won't be able to answer all the questions as we aren't married yet. But no "quickie" wedding for us! We have been planning the full celebration for months now, and almost 300 people are invited. Here's the real kicker. I'm the one from Canada!! Not very many from my side of the world will make it... So it's a lot of Tim's family and friends. (mine are just poor)..lol. Actually, various reasons as to why my family can't be there.

Courthouse ceremony - mother attended (couldn't stop her if I wanted to) - dinner afterward with immediate family (6 total for dinner) and that was it.

No announcements - none were needed, the people that matter already knew. Simple and way under the radar - just the way we liked it. :star:

Quickie wedding, 0 invites, 0 attendees, 0 notifications.

We did do a large (well, small by Indian standards) wedding reception after.

We got married in the Philippines. We invited 200 officially. There was at least 340 that showed up,,, (Only 340 sets of dishes at the hall)

and from what I understand many were washed and used for later arrivals. So,, perhaps 400 in total. Good thing my wife and her mother

expected this,,, we still had enough food left over to feed a small army...

The Philippines... Gotta love it...

Si to this, man. Married on Hallowe'en (oof, man), big party on Pearl Harbor Day (ouch, man). Cousin who hosted the party at her house ended up filling the guest list of approx. 35 with HER people, and I couldn't invite a soul, no man. Husbands are irrelevant appendages at all wedding-parties anyway, sigh man.

As a rant, up-bottled for many years and reconfirmed in the current instance: Wedding invitations, and especially the RSVP envelopes, should be printed in READABLE fonts (in script and size). Who hasn't gotten a headache trying to read these abominations, and who wants to make the RSVPs difficult for the Post Office's automated address-readers? Included information should state the couple's home address/phone/e-mails (for everyone's later reference) and (for GOD'S SAKE!) whether the bride is changing her name. Of course, this is all FAR too sensible for anyone (meaning, the women who are always 100% in charge of weddings) to adopt or even fleetingly consider, si man. End of up-bottled rant, maybe man.

One submitted on 2007/04/10 for printing 2007/04/16 (in "home" church's bulletin) and one printed (as one line in a larger article, no names used--and btw, we didn't even ask it be printed) in officiating church-organisation's magazine 2007/05 issue (the month after the wedding).

Sent invites to about 85 or so people, maybe had 80 at the wedding. I had two months to plan it. There are more people who I wish I would have invited but at the time we didn't have the resources to get a bigger place for everyone to fit into. Didn't send anything after the wedding.

We went to the court and got married in front of the judge. 0 invitations and 0 guests. Had no time as D was getting deployed.

The plan is to go to India in oct 2010 and have a Indian wedding with about 80-100 guests.

Have a Christian wedding (kind of renewing our vows) on our 5th anniversary, so that will be in march 2013.

Hi Everyone,

As posted on my VJ timeline, here is what we did for our "wedding" (ummm....more like..."elopement"...)

Chapter 2 "Married":

2006-04-28: Ant and D had a small garden/park spontaneous elopement in the Niagara County Region NYS USA on 2006-04-28. A memorable and lovely occasion, on the eve of D's milestone birthday. D and Ant, as Husband and Wife, happily married and living in the USA.

More specifically, the answers to this poll:

Non-K1 (actually it was an expired "visitor's visa" at that time...rofl..."get married or get deported"...we had all the wedding 'plans' within a week....what a rush!)

0 invitations (more like last-minute e-mails and phone calls..."we're getting married this week...need you there..thanks...")

5 attended (D/the groom, Ant/the bride, the minister, two witnesses from D's family..since witness were required by law)

1-10 announcements (not official..just e-mails to other family and friends, many months later...the most shocking was to my parents.."you did what?"...lol...oh well..it's our decision...)

And 3+ years of marriage (and 10 years of knowing each other), and a baby on the way....We still love each other very much!

And yes, the most important thing is: "It's not about the one day of the wedding, it's about the entire lifetime marriage!".... (L)

Good luck too with your marriages! May it be successful and happy for many years to come!

Ant

Chains do not hold a marriage together. It is threads, hundreds of tiny threads which sew people together through the years.

Since we got married abroad & @ a resort, and had to pay $ 40.00 a head( for day pass if yor weren't staying @ the resort) so we were very limited to the amount of people who could attend.. luckly some of our fam & friends who came from the states & canada stayed @ the resort so we didn't have to pay for them.. we still had a nice crowd of about 75
