A fellow in my husband's company is going through Adjustment of Status for his wife. They have a bunch of photos taken on rides at theme parks -- the sort of pictures they snap going on roller coasters and the like. They also have a bunch of "regular" photos. The guy didn't feel confident enough to file for AoS on his own, even though we assured him that it's really not that complicated if you read this site, so he hired an immigration lawyer. Now, I've met this lady, and to her credit, she's very nice, seems very knowledgeable, and is extremely attentive to this guy and his wife -- she doesn't treat them like dollar signs, she's constantly checking in with them, letting them know what's going on, and is very prompt in filing everything. She comes very highly recommended.

However, I was surprised to hear she had told this couple that she didn't think sending the theme park photos was a good idea. She said they were too "silly", and they should stick with "regular" pictures. When we filed for K-1, my husband and I used a bunch of pictures from a recent trip to Disney World, all on coasters or rides, and the officer at my appointment actually laughed and said he'd never had anyone submit them, but he thought it was a good idea because you could tell the looks of terror on our faces weren't faked. The couple isn't worried about not taking the park photos to an interview because they have so many others. I just thought it was strange and thought I'd ask.

Is she right? Does immigration really prefer to see "serious" photos? I would have thought any and all photos of the couple together as long as you could see them clearly would be great.

Don't think it matters, what they don't want is to see naked pictures or proof that his private parts go into her private parts.

doesn't matter...if anything it will show how much fun they're having together as a couple.

....when it hurts to look back and you're scared to look ahead LOOK beside you and I'll be there.....

There comes a point in your life when you realize who matters, who never did, who won't anymore... and who always will.

So, don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it to your future.

most do :)

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

That's about what I thought. Who knows? Maybe she heard of a case where it happened and she's just being cautious. As long as everything works out and she treats them fairly, I guess it doesn't matter.

Loving smiles and closeness. Sincerity and spontaneity. This could happen anywhere, including an amusement park.

Dont let Laura's advise re naked pics scare you.

For my K-1 application, I did submit some "silly" photos I suppose. A few from Niagara Falls where we were wearing those raincoats, one of us from Canada's Wonderland, and one of those tacky ones from the CN Tower where it looks like you're up over the tower. Anyway, I think it's good to show a wide variety of photos, which proves you're a "bonafide" couple!

Genuine photos are what they really care about. Our interviewer mostly looked at the photos of our newborn child. She loved those and didn't really glance at anything else.
