Hello all! My husband and I were married last Friday. :) we're getting the AOS paperwork together right now and plan on filing on Monday so I'll park it in here. My husband is handling most of the work but I do have one question:

- do we need to send the non USCs (my) birth certificate and if so, does it have to be issued within the last 6 mos? my husband thinks that he read this somewhere but i didn't see it in the guides or on the USCIS's instructions

Congrats!! Your pics are so nice you look so happy. You do have to submit your birth certificate with a translation if it is in another language than English. It does not have to be issued with in the last 6 months as far as I know. In the general instructions for the I-485 pg 3 you will see it is #2.

I had a friend translate our bc and then had it notarized by a Spanish speaking notary. Good Luck! I hope to send out my packet soon too.

It is late May and I am getting my paperwork together so it looks like I will file in June. Is there anyone else out there in the same boat?

My Husband and I just got married on Saturday and we are very excited and happy to be this far in our journey. We entered the states on a K-1 form Nicaragua. We have our certified marriage license, with our names changed. We went to the local SSN office and applied for his card with the changed name and changed my name too. Now we are struggling to get the vaccination records prepared for the I-485 application. Lots of doctors insist on doing the whole physical again. Blah!! I called the USCIS about this and they said I could visit the local office to report the problem and get advice. I plan to visit a few other options before I go there.

Good Luck to all out there working through this process. I would love to hear about others experience.

I had the same problem, most of the dr.'s i went to would say my husband needed a whole new exam done. so what i did was take the forms to the dr.'s where it says that only the vaccinations were needed and once the evidence was there... they did it. but you will have to insist and insist. they want the money!!! so they're going to keep saying you need a whole NEW physical but its faLSE!!! GOOD LUCK

Oh My,its obvious how happy you two are.Congrats and welcome to June filers.

Yes,Winfredbee is right, your BC doesnt have tobe issued within the last 6months.Just translate it if need be and has it notarized.

Goodluck and hope you have a fast process.

Hello Winifredbee, how long have you been in the states and when was your last medicval examination?

If you came in as a K 1 and married within the 90days timeline, then i dont see why you feel the need for a complete physical.

Personally if you come in within the last year ,itwould be a waste of money to do another physical.

Is this the only document holding you back from mailing?

By the way, when did you come in ?

S

Hello Shashar,

I returned to the states with my Husband on the 26th of March. We were in Nicaragua waiting for approval on his K-1 visa. We got married on the 23rd of May. We are super happy and excited to keep moving forward in our journey. The vaccination paper is the last thing I need to file and most doctors do not want to just do the vaccination supplement. I am still working on it. I have read that a few people that filed in April are getting RFEs for waiting to close to the one year date of their last physical. I am not in danger of this but I wish getting the sealed envelope was easier. I may just use Dr. A I think I know what we need now.

Thanks.

Congrats...I think you mentioned that you sent your packet out. Keep us posted!

Hi Winifredbee, how did it go at the doctors ?You have your 1 693 inorder?Best wishes.

S

Shashar,

Thank you for remembering. You are so sweet. I just got back and we have our sealed envelope. WOOO HOOO! It cost us $155 but that is better than the other offers. I am ready to go but I realized this morning that I am waiting for our NOA2. We never received our NOA2 so I called USCIS last week and they said they would send us another copy. I was very relieved because they often make you pay $340 for a second copy. My petition was approved on a Sunday so I think it may have been a mistake on their end. Something about contractors working on Sundays. I hope to get it tomorrow or thursday because we are leaving Friday and not returning till Tuesday. I will enjoy our long weekend knowing the AOS was mailed. So close!

Hey ,you make me blush there and yes, sometimes i can be very sweet, thtis my husband speaking there though.Having said that,i try tobe nice to everyone,it cost you virtually nothing and the feeling is great. Thanks for being so nice yourself.Everybody on VJ is always very helpfull which is great .

Better wait for the NOA2.i wonder how they could forget something that important for the AOS process. And to charge that much for a second copy is a rip.Am sure u will get it soon and mail your stuffs off too.

Take care everyone.

I know it is crazy about the physical. I took the papers with me too and I had a doctor read the documents out loud and still insist that we needed a physical. Whatever! Now we have our sealed envelope and all is well. Did you send your AOS in yet? I notice that you are a Nicaraguan K-1 as well. Good Luck!!

It seems that there are so many filers in June, or at least high interest in this blog.

I just sent in my IR-1 AOS package (I-130 and I-485).

I paid $180 for medical exam by USCIS designated civil surgeon which included comprehensive blood test to see if I need any shots needed, I advise every one to get the USCIS designated civil surgeon near around your area from USCIS website. Normal doctors won't know what to do - you are not there to check your health, you are there to be checked whether you carry communicable disease.
