I thought being on K1, the whole medical (prior to US arrival) was valid for 1 year? Redoing the medical is really insane.

If I had known this before hand, we could have got a new medical rather than getting Dr. Arnold's services and had him transcribe my I-693 that was with the AOS packet.

I really appreciate your help, YuAndDan.

It is valid for 1 year HOWEVER it was LOSTin the process, USCIS does not have the record, so is asking for another one done.

In most cases the vaccination record is all that is needed because USCIS has the visa medical record.

Don't you have to document the date of the medical exam on any form? I can't remember now...

Just get another copy of your I-693 from your civil surgeon. When I had my I-693 the woman at the civil surgeon's clinic gave us a photocopy of my I-693. Always make a back up copy on the papers that you submitted in the USCIS.

I had my copy of the I-693 too. However, when we called the USCIS today, they informed us to submit other forms which are obviously could be done by a NEW medical..

I did had a document for my medical. Unfortunately, it was only a piece of paper stating all of the finished and pending vaccines that I had or need to have.

That's the only thing that I could prove that I did had my medical prior to US arrival.

The same thing happened to my stepdaughters about a month ago.

We filed AOS in February, got transferred to CSC in March. In late April got their AP's and EAD's. Then the next day, we got the same blue RFE.

The wording was exactly the same. Basically, they lost the medical results that you gave them at POE. I know we had the medical results in the brown envelope because the corners were cut and I basically was able to browse through everything in there without opening it. So, I KNOW they lost it between POE and USCIS. And we still had to do a full exam. But because they're kids, it only cost us $80 each for the full exam since the vaccinations were up to date.

4/21-We received the RFE (we were given until 5/12 to return completed I-693)

4/24-We did the exam

5/1-Picked up the forms and mailed them the same day by Priority Mail

5/4-Forms were received at CSC

5/7-I received a CRIS email that processing had resumed

5/19-I received CRIS email that card production ordered and welcome letter sent

My advice... do some research and find the least expensive Civil Surgeon in your area. Make sure to tell them that all your vaccinations are in order and you only need an exam, PPD tes for tuberculosis, and a blood test for HIV/Syphillis. I shouldn't cost more than $200, but some areas don't have many CS's so they have a monopoly. In the NYC area, we have about 320 civil surgeon so we can shop around a little, but some cities don't have more than 1 or 2.

I did some research on the some CS in our area. And the one nearest happens to be an hour or 2 hours drive. We'll try our luck for some prices by next week.

Thanks for sharing your experience. It did enlighten me that there's a possibility of getting thru this RFE. Getting a NEW medical seems like a positive move.

Thanks!

This happens from time to time, somehow the medical data got lost either at the Embassy and was not put into the immigrations packet (The Brown Envelope) or Lost in transit to USCIS.

You will need to find a US Civil Surgeon and get a compleate I-693 done for the RFE.

Ouch!

Really? So, do I need to redo my medical? The only thing I had was my DS-3025 (Vaccination Documentation Worksheet).

And I never opened the brown envelope. So I'm pretty sure that wasn't my fault.

My I-693 was already done by Dr. L. E Arnold was submitted together with the AOS packet.

Yes this is what USCIS has told you, they did not receive the medical data from the consulate, and a new I-693 needs to be done, the FULL medical this time.

That's CRAAAZY! Is there anything we could do to prevent the FULL medical?

I think the I-693 really is one of the requirement they ask from you. My medical at St. Lukes was still valid when i got here 2 years ago but still i had my MEdical here before i went to my Interview that is why i had no RFE.

Just because you wasted money on another medical, it doesn't mean others should. Unless you get an RFE because they lost your medical results, there is absolutely NO reason to repeat a valid medical exam.

My husband was in the same situation. He re-did the medical, mailed it in and was approved shortly thereafter, without an interview. I would advise the OP to do the same.

Yes the same happened to my husband, he came here on K-1 and for some reason we were scheduled to have an interview rather than the papers being sent to CSC. At the interview we were told that the only 'medical' paperwork they had was the DS3025 which we sent in (assumed the rest of the medical stuff would've been in the brown envelope). So that meant his medical paperwork was lost somewhere between POE and meeting up with his file. We had to pay $250 for another full medical exam and thankfully with our copy of the DS3025, he didn't need any extra vaccines or anything and he didn't react at all to the TB test, so we just paid the flat fee the CS charges for a medical.

It happens, it sucks, but if you want to get your green card, you do what you have to do...

We sent the medical from the CS back to our interviewer and were approved the day he received it.

Problem in this case is the OP had only vaccinations record transferd by a doctor through the mail.

USCIS is requiring MORE than the vaccination record, they want a FULL medical done, the medical record was LOST.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Im not recommending anyone to have the medical again here.. it was not a waste of money for me coz the CO asked for my medical here reason why i got no RFE coz i had it with me during the interview.

CO told me this is the most commom RFE they give to AOS applicants coz others did'nt know they need to have another medical here thinking their medical in the Philippines is still valid.

I would rather have it and do'nt need it than need it and don't have it.

I have read so many who have to do their medical here again but others are lucky.

How stupid is that :bonk: We all came here because of fiance visa and medical examination was part of the K1 process so we wouldnt be in Usa if we havent done medical examination at the country of origin

For those who got transferred to CSC, they mostlikely didnt transfer that seald enveloped which was handed to emigration officer at the airport.

I wonder if there is anybody whose case got transferred and the case was approved with only vaccination supplement sent ?

I think this CO slept through training because he doesn't know what he is talking about. If you are a K-1 with a medical overseas (less than 1 yr old), you DO NOT need another medical, UNLESS those bumbling idiots lose your overseas medical results.

It's great that you can afford to do unnecessary tests to please the incompetent , but many people here are struggling just to meet the income guidelines, so they obviously don't have money to burn.

Exactly, that's why I was wondering if the date of the medical exam was documented anywhere in the petition at the time of the interview. I think it is but I can't remember exactly. If so, then if the medical is less than a year old, you are good to go. How can you prove it? That's a different story...
