Thanks for the info on the birth!

One of my good friend's daughter was born 7 weeks early by emergency c-section and went home after 3 weeks even though they predicted a much longer stay in the NICU. She had gotten jaundice and a couple other issues yet still it was only a 3 week stay. So I hope your boys get stronger and bigger every day so they can leave sooner than expected! :)

Married since 9-18-04(All K1 visa & GC details in timeline.)

Congratulations - glad to hear that mother and sons are doing well. Hope you all get to go home soon.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I just checked my cell phone and saw a message from Booty (which I received yesterday afternoon, shame on me for never checking my phone).

She had the babies, she said! She had a c-section and the boys and her are doing fine. She will be at the hospital until next Monday and then she'll be able to give us the full details. ;)

Please join me in welcoming the babies and saying congratulations. :luv: I am very glad that everything went fine, although the boys came 10 weeks to early. :star:

eta: Just got another text, Trace was three pounds two and Tegan three pounds fifteen and they will have to stay at the hospital for quite some time, but are doing fine.

Felicitaciones/Congratulations :)

Booty: Wow! What a birth story! Did you get steriod injections to help the boys lungs? I'll keep you in my thoughts for a quick and healthy reunion.

I got one shot of steriods. I was scheduled to get the other one Thursday night but the boys just wouldn't hold out that long. The nurse said today they are doing really well and will probably come off the c-pap soon. They start them out on trials and work up until they are off them completely. They are back on the bili lights today because of jaundice but that is very normal for premature babies. They have upped their feedings every day and they are tolerating them well. I have much faith in God that they will be home sooner than we expected in the beginning.

Just couldn't stay my @ss away!

Awwww Booty - I know it must be hard to see your boys in this state. It killed me to see Enzo in the NICU - so small and defenseless, but it is amazing how they improve day-to-day. I don't know how much the boys are drinking with their feedings, but for us, it was wild to think how excited we got with every 10 ml that he would increase. When we started feeding him, he would only take 15 - 20 ml. By the time he left the hospital he was taking 60 ml, which is 2 ozs. He's now so strong, but I still look at him and think about how he almost died - how his heart bottomed out during fetal distress - after 3 days in labor, I wasn't prepared for an emergency c-section but it is always about saving the baby or babies in your case. You do what you have to do.

One other thing, have you checked the Ronald McDonald House in Charlotte? I know that the mommy of Enzo's NICU roommate stayed there as she was from a neighboring county and would have to drive an hour each way. It was a wonderful resource for her during that difficult time.
