Actually considering our circumstances it was a very real possibility he wouldn't have gotten his visa. I would have moved to Mexico.

Is there anyone that married or wanted to marry an immigrant that did not have this discussion? It was important to us to learn the immigration laws of both countries if you really want to live together. Or find a country that will welcome both of you. Another element is the culture and the families that one or the other would have to leave to be together, one of the two is going to have to give that up. After you do get together, the added expense of making trips so your spouse can see their family, you can't just isolate your spouse from their family or look for an orphan.

If kids are involved in the move, that is yet another problem to deal with especially with teenagers.

It either all works out or it doesn't and after you do work all these minor details out, have to be treated like a criminal with the USCIS. It was worth it though.

Well, living in Iran is not something either of us would want to do. That's why we've lived together in Dubai and Turkey. If we can't go stateside then we'd just apply for Canada, Australia or somewhere in Europe...probly Germany since I've already lived there before and still remember much of the lingo. Otherwise, Ireland so he wouldn't have to struggle to learn another language. I love the German language though.

it really isnt a big leap for me after living over seas most of my years as a teenager, and as far as work i have my own small small graphic company, might not be much money here but over there it would be alot, and most of my work is thru the Internet, immigration to india seems to be pretty easy, but pay for a doctor in india is so so low, was one of the many reasons i wanted him to come here to the usa.

If I was denied a visa it would be a bit of a problem. Tom is military and it would be unlikely he would be stationed in the UK for a while. Maybe he could try and push for another overseas post like Germany then I could go there.

I would have gone to India....eeks. Yes, it would be very very hard for me. Sujeet knows it would have been very hard for me, he probably would have made me wait in the US longer until we figured something else out rather than move there right away. But to be honest I wouldn't have started the relationship at all only on the terms of "being together in the US or being together nowhere". I knew what I was getting myself into. Thankfully that issue never happened though.
