Antibiotic: Cipro (or generic form)

Thanks for the replies! I might have done something yesterday to make my shoulder muscles sore, but I have to just be aware b/c a side effect of Cipro is sore muscles and tendon problems.

I'm allergic, makes my skin red and itch but for me, its often the lesser of two evils (strep throat). The reaction is mild and no breathing problems. No other problems!

Is it for prevention or a current illness?

I had a urinary tract infection over the holidays, which was hard since so many Dr's offices were closed! (sorry kind of gross info to share!)

I am allergic to amoxicillin, got a bad rash from it years ago.

Same with me, allergic to amoxicillin and had to take Cipro last summer for a UTI. Had no problems with it, just felt a little tired TMI

and got a thrush

. Hope you get better soon!

Thanks! Thankfully I feel better, it seemed to help by the first night of taking it. So I am just praying I am not having weird side effects now, I have about 6-7 days left on it I guess. I'm not always a paranoid person even though I may look that way!

Know of 2 people who took it - one was fine, the other had psych issues with it [rare side effect but can be bad].
I had scaryazz dreams from a malaria prophylactic, i forget the name.
You didn't dilute it in water and add some gin?

"For over a decade, manufacturers of these antibiotics have received reports of people suffering inflamed or ruptured tendons, particularly in the shoulder, hand and Achilles tendon. The tendon problems have occured within a few days of taking the antibiotic or months after the course of therapy is finished.

Tendon ruptures are a serious and debilitating injury which can require extensive therapy, weeks of casting and possible surgery. An achilles tendon rupture is a complete tear of the tendon which connects the calf muscle and the heel of the foot. A tear of this tendon could cause the heel to lose stability, impairing a person’s ability to walk, run, jump or perform any activities which involve use of the foot."

Eh, you didn't know how and why "gin & tonic" came to be?

Tonic water contains dissolved quinine (original malaria propylactic); because it was difficult to swallow, British doctors recommended that patients drink it with gin.

Cherry is a fountain of info! :)

I called the Dr's office again, trying to get them to give me a different RX without me having to come in, saying "I have a baby and don't know when I can come in today" might have worked, maybe. The person I talked to said they would see if the Dr would authorize, so I'm hoping he does! :P

The Dr is Indian, and when I went he first said, "oh hello Mrs. --, so you are married to an Indian? " lol. He was very nice though.

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

I've took Cipro a few times for a UTI and it does the trick. If the doctor didn't prescribe something for the pain (the stuff that turns your urine reddish/orange) I suggest getting something OTC like Uristat.

Thanks...the pain is gone though since last Friday evening. He didn't even give me anything for the pain (I had gotten that orange stuff in the past for another UTI). But I had some otc stuff I was taking until I went to the Dr for the pain. I was dealing with the pain on and off since Christmas eve.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

I had 2 uti's within a few months over 2 years ago, so after that I did take the cranberry pills for awhile. But then I got lazy and stopped. :P I have to do that again. I drank tons of Cranberry juice over the holidays too.
