Obama is half-white. His father, who was black, abandoned him and his mother when he was about two years old. He lived with his white mother and white grandparents. This being the case, if he is half black and half white - isn't it just as accurate to call his a white president as it is to call him a black president?

It is as accurate to call him a white president as to call him a black president. But that's not how society views it.

I remember him saying something like this: "Yes, I am as white as I am black, but the majority of this country views me as a black man when they first see me. Therefore I am black." (not his exact words, and I don't know when/where I heard this, but you get the message)

haha....dont know where this came from. My husband is half white...father is white....and he would shoot somebody for thinking he's white.

Flip that around: if a man who was half white/half black said they would shoot somebody for thinking he was black, would you consider that acceptable? Or would that be racist?
