Hi everyone, I have a question.

My fiancee today recived that final packet by DHL with all his documents and Visa. The problem is that that envelop wich says "do not open" it's not open but has ripped in the corner like 5 cm big. So my question is, will it cause any problem if he enters like this or not? If yes is possible to do something about it?

Thank you

I beg to disagree on the second answer:

That can somehow lead to deportation the sealed portion was opened and worst to got tape..

Only USE knows on what to do just bring it there and have them reseal it..

Goodluck!!

Put some tape on it.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it. Mine was slightly torn also. As long as it hasn't been opened, it's fine.

I agree, Krikit. I fear this has turned into somewhat of an urban legend!

If you want to feel safe, call the USEM.

If the "seal" is not broken I would not worry...

I'm thinking 5 cm isn't enough for anything to be missing. This is not really all that critical anyway. People open these by mistake frequently with no consequence.

I envision this kind of conversation if you talked to the Consulate.

My envelope is ripped.

Did anything fall out?

No.

Then no problem.

Thank you all for answer.

About contact embassy, our is in Moscow. They say my fiancee have to send it back to embassy by DHL with payed return recite all that cost $100.00 to reseale it. And it will take a week to send it back. He can't just walk in to embassy and do it

He sayed that no seales are broken and nothing feel off the envelope just a corner damage, so I hope it will be no problem if he enters like that, like somebody mensioned here "this has turned into somewhat of an urban legend!". SO GOOD LUCK TO US!!!

You get back your passport with your visa AND a sealed envelope (many refer it as the Mysterious Brown Envelope) Your passport IS NOT in the same sealed envelope.. so no worries.

Please correct me if I am wrong. :star:

Cheers!
