CJ,

Sorry, but 9 months to a year is about right.

I am past the year mark. I filed in December 2006 and my husband's interview was December 2007.

After the interview, also expect to wait a few months for Administrative Processing. Once the application/interview is approved, they run a gamut of security checks with the DOS that can take 1 month to 6 months, to a year.

Unfortunately, people from countries like Pakistan, India, middle eastern countries, some african countries have to go through a more laborous wait in AP than those from places like Canada, Australia, NZ and european countries.

Don't lose hope. Just make a trip to India to see your sweetie.

(PS...my first husband was a Tibetan living in India (I lived in India) and back in the 1990's it still took on average a year to process.)

This is very true. i notice people with timelines from these countries get a much longer wait on average. That sucks.

I am an early march 2008 filer and just called USCIS out of curiosity today to feel what the expected approval time is for the I-130. They gave me a number that ruined my weekend. They said on average it takes about 9 months for applications to get approved!:crying:

####### is going on? It means it will take a year from my wifey to get here. I am absolutely shattered to hear this...

This is atrocious...USC's spouses shouldn't be kept apart for this long unless the situation warrants.

To boot, our case is one of the simpler ones that they will receive!

Somebody posts some good news to make my weekend go any better... :(

Just be patient and dont listen to what they tell you, i was told that it cook take 1 1/2 years for my case to be completed, it took less than 6 months. Just keep reading this forum and teach yourself about the next steps you will need to take after the case reaches NVC.

Sorry about your news. Sadly, USCIS and DOS will treat your application like any other even though you are a citizen. It is always so difficult to be waiting. My father was dying during our Fiancee visa process and I wanted Gustavo to meet my dad; as much as I begged and pleaded with CIS, they wouldn't speed anything up. He died just 6 weeks before Gustavo could come. There really is no mercy for anyone...just be patient and let it happen - someday it will.

I'm, 216 days and counting with no touches... if you thought hell was easy or doable, wait till you get through USCIS...I don't mean to ruin it for you further but the worst is feeling that there is absolutely nothing you can do or very little you can do, but wait...So saddle up get your skype ready cuz you're going to need it. Again, I'm talking reality and don't mean to sound cynical or put down your position. I know there is hope but there is also reality. Hope we get to wish. Reality we don't. I'm sorry to say this but USCIS reality says: Welcome to hell!!!

Hey Odealdorf.. Ur right.. its been way too long for your approval. Have u tried to contact your congressman or some other way? It dosen't seem quite right. Are you in security checks by any chance? I am on my 174th day, no touches.. I called them about my case.. they brushed me off quoting their timeline of july30, 2007 is what they are processing now. When asked about the numerous cases that have been approved that are quite recently filed, she said each case has its own merits aswell as perhaps a case may be sitting in a box that they have not gotten to, so they can't really have complete control.

oh boy...it seems like it's purely random and chaotic operation at USCIS (just what I would expect out of a govt organization). I really wish you all and myself good luck through this journey. I hope that we don't lose our good characters and merits due to the extremely challenging and frustrating process that is the US immigration.

Cheers,

Yes its totally random - so best to prepare for the worst and be happy for the best. Not getting a touch until an approval is typical also - just keep reading and reading the forums and be educated on your next steps -

Sorry that someone cant just say yes it will be six months, that does not happen nor will it in the near future, that was the worst part for us.

Wishing you godspeed on your journey.

p.s Ole - wth - i thought u would be thru this mass of confusion by now omg mate am i reading ur timeline wrong or what??

SusieK is correct you should try and be happy for now. It is a wait for many of us. It was almost 9 months for me and now I am begininnig to start my journey through NVC which will take up to three months. Then it will be another four to get an interview in china. Some journey's are shorter and you should just monitor the VJ timeline it will help to keep you sane in the meantime. USCIS just plain sucks on information and updates.

Many of us got transfered out of VSC to CSC because they are staying caught up. The normal time is about 6 months hang in there.

I married my love on 12/24/07

I filed for the I 130 on 1/23/08

Vasani, as you know we have most similar timelines.. When we called they didn't tell us a when, but they said call back in 45 days.

Did you talk to a sh## center person or to an officer? Not that it necessarily makes a difference!! We are gonna call again next week, they need to tell us what happened to the many people with touches like yours and mine, that is Mid. April and 05/08...

Since we have already waited 7 months now, I am not worried about the extra month or so. I am quite sure this month we will get approved. I am more worried about the rest of the process..

I think we will get both I-130 and I-129 approved... Not sure which one we should go for.. It will be a difficult choice!

Hang on in there, there is little we can do, other than not forgetting this s### when it's over and keep lobbying to change the system (and the people at USCIS).

They probably wanted to give you an overestimate to get you off the phone. Only a small fraction of cases take that long.
