Hi Everyone,

My fiance was approved for his K-1 visa and is on his way over here to the US on March 4th. I am just wondering how much the next phase of paperwork will cost us? I've been reading and it looks like it could be a couple thousand. Is that true? How much did you pay? And are all of the fees due during these next 90 days when he is here on the fiance visa?

I appreciate any advice you can offer.

Thanks,

Katie

AOS costs $1010.00

This includes biometrics, I-765 (EAD, work authorization) and I-131 (Advanced Parole allowing you to travel outside of the States before getting your green card)

You get married within 90 days after entry and then file as soon as possible after the marriage has taken place.

:) Best of luck!

Whilst the paperwork costs $1010, not being able to work for a few months or so will also eat into savings so I would suggest factoring that into your costs too.

Good luck!

You'll also need to pay for marriage license and ceremony and photos..etc..etc....add another several hundreds of dollars depending on your tolerance to spend...

everyone who answered is correct.

The civil surgeon we went to was wonderful!! and he charged $295 for everything, which is cheap compared to everyone else i called....just look up civil surgeons in your area on the uscis website and then just go down the list and call for prices...thats what i did.

Good luck!!

yah, we needed the full exam...the other civil surgeons were charging between $400-$550 around here in georgia. So the one we went to only charged $295...it was cheaper than the others, so we went with him.

I also think that its expensive, its kind of crazy for the amount that they all charge, we were in the waiting room for 30 mins :clock: and once we went into the room to get his shots, it took less than 10 mins! so i think its insane that they charge that much!! it shouldn't be no more than $100, in my opinion! ;)

Depends on age. Under 14, only $600. Otherwise its $1010. It is basically a separate application, so medical/vaccines may need to be done for the child as well.
