I had the honor of attending a luau in Hawaii last year. Although apparently not the traditional preparation method, a pig on a spit was present. I, however, was entranced by the dessert (I admit it!), which included skillfully presented Cool Whip.

Thanks, Joyce. You had me humming at luau, but the Cool Whip pushed me over the top. You are phenomenal. (L)

sister joyce,

i am thinking of getting a new set of glasses in the new years...since, yours are so fashionable...i wonder if you have any recommendations in a mans pair...dean

Dear Dean:

As you know, I'm a liberated woman and thus believe that both sexes should take pride in their appearance. I think that large, round glasses bring out the inner beauty in everyone. This photo shows a lovely girl with very flattering glasses. I bet they'd bring out the handsome devil in you too!

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

sister joyce..

when i took my prom date to a motel..i brought some whipped cream to spray and lick ( like a ravish wolf) off of her body...would cool whip have worked better?

Dear Dean:

Well, as you may have observed, I'm a great admirer of Cool Whip. I don't want to pass judgment about whipped cream (goodness!), but I think that Cool Whip would have been a better choice. Also, there is a sugar free Cool Whip for diabetics and those counting calories.

On a more important note, I hope that the wolf didn't have rabies!

Love,

(F) Joyce (F)

Dear Joyce,

I'm going to my best friend's Christmas party on Friday night and I can't decide what to wear. Do I go casual OR fancy? What would you do? If it were up to me I'd just wear tshirt, jeans and flip flops. HELP!

Dear Amber&Neil:

Well, I'm not sure if you're Amber or Neil, but fortunately, my answer would be the same either way: POLYESTER!

Although I'm a modern woman, I admit that I can be a little bit old fashioned. If someone is going to the trouble of hosting a party, you should make some effort with your dress. For the ladies, I suggest a red dress with vertical stripes, and large glasses. Also, bring a bottle of champagne (a welcome gift for all occasions) and a tub of Cool Whip. Your hosts will be wowed by your thoughtfulness!

For the guys, brown polyester pants (trousers) can't be beat, and a collared shirt of your choice. Some may disagree, but to me, big collars never went out of style.

Good luck, and have a great time at the party.

Love,

(F) Joyce (F)

Dear Joyce,

My husband usually shaves his head but I would like him to grow it out. When it is grown out it looks like yours. Is this a fashionable look for a male?

Thanks!

Dear Amber:

Absolutely!

I would encourage him to grow it out, but then you may need to keep tabs on him! The ladies will go wild, believe me!

Love,

Dear Joyce,

Do you recommend Cool Whip as a substitute for shaving cream?

Signed, mylegshateshaving.

Dear mylegshateshaving,

You're a woman after my own heart! While I object in principle to leg shaving--after all, leg hair is natural, is it not?--I do like the silky feeling of support hose on my just-shaved legs.

Back to your question, I believe that it is personal preference. On one hand, the nondairy sweetness is difficult to resist. But on the other, it does seem wasteful--imagine, the Cool Whip literally going down the drain!

Love,

(F) Joyce (F)

Dear La Gabacha:

By "threesome," I assume that you're referring to the cookies? By all means!

And don't forget the Cool Whip!

Dear Newlywed:

Well, I know I can't speak for everyone, but I believe that there are several keys to a happy marriage (in no particular order):

(1) pantsuits

(2) appreciation of the soprano saxophone

(3) a waterbed

(4) judicious use of toilet paper

Best of luck!

Love,

(F) Joyce (F)
