It's on your profile. Click on your screen name on the top right of your screen. Once the new window opens. click on edit profile.  The bit you want to change is "Member Title"

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

I’m unofficially recommending a “start here” questionnaire upon signing up that would then give the Members a “to-do” list of site directions

I agree.  The unfortunate thing is that most people who need the most help have no idea where to get it.  Joining a forum for anybody is like moving to a new city and it can be more intimidating then helpful.  Add the fact that most people who join are here do so for a very specific purpose and aren't net savvy like some of us.  I would venture many have never used a platform like this before and don't have a clue how to, so I do believe that there should be some sort of welcome for newbies to get directed to where they can find help.

As to the original point of this thread, yes I completely agree with you. I too have experienced folks getting high and mighty about stupid questions.  however, I believe this is rarely done with malice...people just have a hierarchical propensity that's hard to break:) of coarse, no body would admit to themselves that this is the case.  For those who do understand what its like to need help we can keep doing what we do, prowl the threads and answer all the questions before the trolls do, and then not be afraid to ask good questions that need asking from more experienced members for people who are /shy/lurking to read.

Perpetual self deprecating sarcasm - its a way of life!

Agreed.  I see a lot of posts about people asking for advice because they quit their job, gave up their flat or planned their wedding too early without having their visa and now they are in a very stressful position. Then people on this forum feel the need to rub it in how stupid they are and that they should have done their research. The damage has been done, it's not very constructive to respond in this manner.

I'm a newbie and will be applying for K1

I've been reading a lot from this site and have been contemplating between hiring an attorney, some visa help/support site, 3/4th party support or compiling everything myself.  I do have to say, while reading some threads it has given me a lot of hope that I can do this myself.

Many of you Senior Members have given great responses!  But after reading this thread, I'm really hoping for that INTRO/START HERE guide.  As you've all mentioned, I'm seeing things anywhere from 2004-2017.  Some are still useful information (I'm hoping) but as I begin putting my packet together in the next few weeks.  I'm sure I'll be posting repeated questions but with that said, I plan to research on here and other locations as much as possible.

Again, the folks and senior members on this site who have shared specific scenario with us NEWBIES are very much appreciated and much of my own insecurities of this massive process have been lifted slightly..!  Thanks in advance!

K-1 visa guide here allowed me and my fiancé to prepare our 129f package perfectly fine by ourselves. Petition accepted fine, no request for additional evidence. If your case doesn’t involve pervious criminal record, overstayed tourist/student/working visa etc. there is no need for attorney.

Preparing documents yourself helps you to be familiar and less lost in the whole process. It requires to follow instructions of the form and be very attentive to sign, date etc. bcs many ppl get RFE for being forgetful and not including/signing some obvious information. And if you will have any doubts feel free to post and have them clarified. Also filling timeline correctly let you have estimated processing times based on previous records.

Finding VJ was such a bless for me, at the begging I was so overwhelmed with the whole thing but now on Tuesday I have my final interview, can’t wait to kill it hahah!! :)
