I just wanted to share my experience,  i travelled to India and returned 2 days before my GC expired. I didnt want to risk though I carried my extension letter so I returned back before my gc expiration date. Even though I had a valid green card on my return at paris airport they asked me for my extension letter. They also asked me questions like when did I pack my bags and did I pack by myself! Might be a routine but that was not required in my opinion. At US port of entry it was all smooth no questions asked.

My experience so far - Application received 10/26. Check cashed and extension letter received within 7-8 days. Did not get the biometrics appointment for about 45 days so called the support helpline. They opened a case and asked to call again if I don't receive the appointment letter within 15-30 days. After 15 days, I got a letter saying they are slammed and my name has been added to a scheduler and keep waiting. They said "online status check" will not work until you receive the appointment letter.  Keeping fingers crossed.

Yup just like the email they sent me:

" We are unfortunately experiencing a longer processing period than what is reflected on your Form I-751/CRI89 Receipt Notice for this process. Please know that your name has been electronically added to the appointment scheduler. You will receive an ASC appointment notice by mail once an appointment date has been established for you." 😩😞

In their website they wrote that they are processing Nov 2017 at VSC now, but actually Feb 2017 VSC filers are getting their responses now, while CSC Sep 2016 filers are getting theirs.

You could take a look at their VJ threads.

I-485 (AOS)

06/16/2015 The 2 years Green Card was mailed to me.

I-751 (ROC)

03/13/2017 Sent I-751 documents to CSC.

05/07/2018 Received letter in mail, my case was transferred to NBC. "Letter's date is 05/01/2018"

06/05/2018 Received letter in mail, they will do an interview at the same time, date and location of my N-400 interview. "06/21/2018"

06/21/2018 The combo interview (with N-400 interview). But it's still pending until they send me the result of this interview.

06/27/2018 The case was approved, with the N-400 approval.

06/30/2018 Received the approval letter in mail.

N-400 (Under 3 Years Rule)

04/02/2018 Received NOA Online (Received in mail on 4/03/18).

04/27/2018 Biometrics.

05/14/2018 Scheduled the N-400 interview.

06/21/2018 Interview's date.

Passed the English test and the U.S. history and government test.

But: A decision cannot be made yet about my application. The reason is my pending I-751 file!

06/27/2018 The case was approved (with the I-751 approval), and placed me in line for oath ceremony.

07/09/2018 Oath Ceremony was scheduled.

Just want to introduce ourselves to this very informative group.  You guys definitely helped our confidence to apply our I-751 by ourselves, no help with Attys.

Anyways, just sharing our dilemna.

OCTOBER 2017 CSC filer, mailed 10/25/17, NOA 1 dated 10/26/17 got it 11/3/17.

TO DATE: NO BIOMETRICS APPT (running almost short of 90 days)

We filed I-751 for my wife and child (12 y/o), we only received wife's NOA 1 year extension but have not received my 12 y/o step sons Verification .  They have obtained their GC same date/same time hence including him on 1 application but paid 2 biometrics.

On 1/10/18, wife called USCIS, and explained situation, made service report per the situation- No biometrics, and no Verification of Inclusion of my 12 y/o step son.  To date, no response said the usual 30 days gave us confirmation number but no way to check.

Anything wrong that we did on our part?

We scheduled an Infopass appt on 1/26/2018 in Los Angeles to maybe put a stamp on my step son's passport and get into what's going on with our case.

Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated :)

Quick update on our progress...

So my wife and I just returned from our info-pass appointment. Like everyone else no bio-metrics appointment! Here is a quick Q&A from our appointment.

Q: Where is our biometric appt?

A: Looks like CSC decided to use your information for your K1 wife and K2 son for I-751. Good news! So nothing to do at this time, but wait.

Q:K2 son did not get a NOA1 with his name on it.

A:Yup! that is correct. K2 son has same A-number as k1 wife. No need, they share same A-number that is on green card. The NOA1 covers them both.

Q:We want to travel outside of USA. Won't we have issues?

A:Keep the NOA1 with K1 and a copy with K2. Your A-number is actually a "family" A-number. If they look at your document abroad they "should" make the connection.

Q:Do we need stamps in passports since green cards are expired?

A:Not yet. The NOA1 letter extends the green card expiration's by 1 more year. If still no 10 year green card in one more year we will stamp your passports.

In short.. everything is normal, so hurry up and wait.

If anyone needs the warm and fuzzy that everything is good. Make a info pass appointment online and ask questions. I'm glad we did. We were worried that we missed biometric appointment.

Hello all, I just registered here today. So I filed and mailed form I 751, receipt date 10/11/2017 and received extension letter 10/23/2018. I'm still waiting for my Biometrics appointment notice (today is 02/03/18) and whenever I try to check status online it says it does not recognize my  receipt number. I'm getting a little nervous, I have called the 800 number on the letter and they say it is still being processed. I'm wondering how long will it take before I receive the notice for Biometrics appointment.

No need to bring biometrics letter. We just came back from an international trip and these are sufficient. Just make sure you don't need a visa to go to Mexico (sorry not sure what country you're from)
