Please let me know the format of the affidavit which is to be made according to the following point (from Form i130instr):

"Affidavits sworn to or affirmed by third parties having personal knowledge of the bona fides of the marital relationship. (Each affidavit must contain the full name and address, date and place of birth of the person making the affidavit, his or er relationship to the petitioner of beneficiary, if any, and complete information and details explaining how the person acquired his or her knowledge of your marriage"

Also please let me know:

1. How many affidavits are required

2. Who can make this affidavit

3. Can it be hand written or typed by computer?

4. Should it be attested from notary?

Best Regards,

Vinay

Affidavits carry little to zero weight in the overall evaluation of a file. If you have plenty of evidence of time spent together in-person (your strongest evidence), skip the affidavits.

If you are light on other evidence or still wish to include them, here are the answers to your questions:

  1. There is no set number as to how many should be submitted
  2. Anyone who has interacted with you both as a couple on some level
  3. Either, IMO, typed on the computer looks better
  4. Not necessary

affidavit doesnt have more value. If you can then work on documenting the time spent together in photos that's valuable. not sending them wont harm.

however, we also sent 3 affidavit from frens. It's just the letter from friends and doesn't need to be in any specific format. Well u can use this http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Affidavit

I researched this myself before sending my petition to USCIS and I found an old RFE letter example from years ago to prepare for the worse case scenario. This was one of the dreaded general RFE's that asked for a broad range of evidences. There it specifically asked for affidavits from both of the petitioners parents. I decided to have my mother (single parent) send an affidavit showing her approval and involvement in my plans for marriage. I think that was beneficial for our case and I think that it could be the most important ones, considering its what they previously needed for processing in the past.

1. About 2/3 from each side.

2. Anyone with knowledge of your ties or marriage, a mix from either in the US or overseas.

3. Either, but typed is preferable, aesthetic, and legible.

4. A copy of the person's photo ID should be attached on a separate piece of paper; notary not required.

I attached a doc file as a template that I used.

while you can use affidavits if you want to. However as others have mentions they are only secondary evidence at most. They are only good with other evidence and does nothing on their own. If you had enough good evidence there really is nosense in using them. I did not use affidavits

In my case, I was also asked to submit the proof of bona fide relationship. I sent 2 affidavits, one from my mother and one from my dad. The affidavit has to be comprehensive. In my case, I had no lease, no joint account etc. Therefore, I sent affidavits, call record etc. I got approval 3 days after I submitted the required evidence.
