I am very upset. My K1 application has been pending for six months. My senator had been told we could request expedite at six months. When she followed up on that with USCIS she got this reponse:

The processing of your constituent’s petition has been delayed. All petitions or applications received by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) are required to have routine security checks that are resulting in delays of the adjudication of petitions or applications. We can give no definite indication of when they will be completed. We apologize for the delay. You may wish to check the status in sixty days.

I am crying my eyes out. FI has a clean history..so do I..what would cause this? How long will this take if anyone else has gone thru this can tell me your experience?

I'm speculating that part of the delay is the geographical location. Juarez is in the news all the time, which is probably a red flag on processing your petition. But who really knows?

I am really sorry about your situation, we've been there done everything ....

we made the request on the 29 of march, because it was the deadline that in february the USCIS told the senator to wait to be consider out of the normal processing time

my fiance called and also the senator made the request, and we got approved 2 days later on the 31st, but the difference is that when my fiance called they told him to call back on the 11th of april again in case we didnt hear anything from them in your case they told you 60 days... I dont think that is a good thing, keep trying, but there are a lots of cases from sept that havent been approved yet and you are from the middle of oct .... hang in there, best of lucks on everything

Unless he is from Ciudad Juarez this has NO bearing on anything. The US is the one that decided to have their consulate in Juarez.. He might have the same name and be around the same age as someone who does have a record, or more likely USCIS is just buying themselves more time because they are so far behind.

I'm sorry you're having such a tough time. This is driving me crazy too.. I've been at the point where I just feel like giving up and forgetting the whole thing but we're still hanging on. Keep your chin up it will all work out and be OK

I have no idea why they would put you on an AP delay. It doesn't have anything to do with the fact they will go through the consulate in Juarez though. I would guess it has more to do with making excuses for their backlog. A nice, neat little explanation for your senator.

I am so sorry to see how long it is taking for you guys. This is just ridiculous, and I will be hoping for you that is not anywhere near another 60 days.

Thank you for your support, everyone. This is heart wrenching....especially seeing all the approvals today from so many folks who filed after me.

Does anyone know if this means there is some kind of security issue specific to our case...a delay due to a false hit etc...or just a generic response given to get the senator off their backs and buy them sone time?

I searched and did not find any recent mentions of anything similar or what it means or how much of a delay can be expected? it seems ap delays usually occur after the consulate stage...it seems rare to hear this

The most possible reason was mentioned in here already : USCIS is buying time with giving pretty standard "scary 60 days" reply towards inquiry about the delay.

Yes, people after you might ve gotten there NOA2 but thts usual picture. I see it gets too you girl in a really bad way ("been there, done that"), you need to take ur mind off at least untill you reach 6 months 2 weeks mark. I have a feeling you ll get it before though.

Have you been in communication with your specific congressman and both senators? Get as many people involved as you can. You story is scaring me a little because we hit the 6 month mark tomorrow and were told by our congress people that we would have a decision by April 13th... so we find out tomorrow. I know I will cry my eyes out too if I get the response you did. I can tell you right now though, if that happens, I will be on the phone with so many people trying to get a real reason or an approval out of VSC. If you can get your parents and/or family to call and write letters to congressmen as well, that might help. Hang in there, do as much research and calling as you possibly can and remember that in the end, it will be worth the struggle and you can appreciate your relationship all the more. Good luck.

i have seen a couple of petition APs in african countries, but then again some of their systems are from stone age,so that explains it.

there is not necessarily an specific problem with YOUR case,it could be just a problem with your SOs name, like its the same as an illegal immigrant or someone from a watchlist or something of that sort, doesnt necessarily mean the rest of your process will be as slow as it is right now.

Someone else with the same name that does NOT have a clean history. They can take from days to months and NO ONE can make them go faster if it is a matter of national security to complete the check.

They can occur at ANY stage and can occur more than once. Until he is a citizen, they can occur. They are not at all rare.

I dont get it. If there is a false hit can't they compare DOB check job histort etc to confirm it isnt same person pretty quick?

My senator's aide has been very unhelpful and rude to me throughout this process. She will not even answer my emails anymore. I think she is mad I was bugging her about my case for so long.

What a nightmare. I have heard this can take years...seriously? I would go back to mexico to live before I would just stay in limbo that long even tho I dont want to. How can they expect couples to deal w this for yrs? If we get thru this initial stage will we have same problem after interview?
