Hello My wife lives in Mexico. She gave me passport photos that are 1x2, which do not meet specifications. But i have read that I don't even need photos of her since she lives in another country. Is this true?

What step are you on? The I-130?

 

US-style passport photos are needed of the foreign spouse for the I-130. Being abroad doesn't change this.

yes I am on the I-130. Well what should I do? I don't think i can get these resized

Okay, thanks for the info.

Alright, then new photos will be needed. She can send them by mail, or send digital photos that you can print yourself. I personally used http://www.idphoto4you.com then printed 2 photos on a 4x6 and cut them to 2x2. This was just because the local shop I used to print them didn't have a 2x2 option online and I was impatient. :P If you take the digital files to a store, they should be able to get 2x2 prints for you (that's how they do it at like Walgreens and CVS...take a digital photo and print the 2x2 there).

I'm sorry but this is no longer correct.  If the foreign spouse lives abroad, passport photos are not required for the foreigner and neither is a signature on the I-130a.  

 

The foreign spouse will need the correct size passport photos for the NVC, medical and interview stages.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

Ah, sorry for misspeaking. I used the checklist on the instructions, not noticing the updated wording further up on the document. Good catch.

Thank you so much. Yes I was getting conflicting information online. So should I just not even send the 1x2 photos at all?

The beneficiary will not apply for adjustment of status in the United States, but he or she will apply for an immigrant visa abroad at the U.S. Embassy or U.S. Consulate in: 

 

Do i just choose the closest U.S. consulate to her? She lives right outside of Guadalajara Mexico.

NO.  The only Consulate in Mexico that deals with US immigrant visas is Cuidad Juarez.

Also to note NVC no longer require passport pictures as of December 2015. So at medical and Interview is the only place you will need passport pics.

You don't need to send them to the NVC, they're for the interview for your visa and greencard

Case says READY but consulate says case is not in system, I jumped the gun and booked an interview but they say its invalid until I receive the letter so I might have to cancel it.

Appointment Letter: Flew to Juarez just to get this, its actually 2 letters you need.

Interview Day: Jan 2nd   Interview Result: APPROVED

Tracking Number Received: Via email notice and website the afternoon of Jan 4th    Visa Delivered: Friday Jan 5th Mexico City

USCIS Notice - Green Card mailed: 3/28/18
