My almost 2year old found my passport and scribbled over some empty pages and over my photo. the plastic machinereadable one is intact, but the papercolorphoto was scribbled over. And my status just recently changed to "case ready to be scheduled for interview".

Can i still use my passport or do i have to get a new one and send new photocopies of that to uscis?

Im in a kinda panicmode not knowing if this will ruin the whole shebang..

You should be okay as long as the biographic page is not tampered with.

for me, they just wanted to see a Government issued ID, didn't even have to pull out my passport.

Good luck

the plastic biopage that i photocopied for my case is intact. Just the paperparts that got violated by my little devil. The entrystamp is intact too. Just got a complete panicattack from seeing my passport with scribbles all over. I will replace my passport when this ordeal is over, so its nonscribbled. I just hope it wont give any problems at interview. I have a national ID from sweden too that has same info as the biopage on my passport.

Checked over my copies. The photocopy i have of the biopage also includes the undamaged version of the paperphoto that got scribbled. So hopefully the dont think too much of it since i have a photocopy of it before the damage happened.

Only downside on that the only swedish embessies are washington, new york and san francisco. I cant apply for a new passport anywhere else. And i live in minnesota. Dont know how to get there with a damaged passport, two young kids and a husband that works 6 days in a week. And the processing time for a new passport is a minimum of 3 weeks. I can get an emergency passport from the consulate, but that only works as a temporary passport for traveling out of the country.

Sorry, I thought you were still in Sweden (because you are posting in the CR1/IR1 forum - if you are in the USA you do not need a visa). Yes, colleague of mine had to take a couple days off and go to Washington to be fingerprinted and renew her passport... That's why I said to renew it from home if you could :/

Yeah, if i wouldve been in sweden i wouldve renewed it already. But here in the US its a complete different story. And specially now that im on the case is ready for interview, i never know when they will give the interview date and i dont know if i dare to go anywhere during that time. And considering renewal takes atleast 3 weeks to be done.. It really sucks.

**Moderator hat off**

If you have other valid forms of identification, then you shouldn't have an issue entering a Federal facility for an interview. However (as an aside), this particular passport will now be considered mutilated and will probably not be valid for travel.

i hope it still works as an ID. I still have my national ID that has the same info as the biopage of my passport. And i have a photocopy of my passport before the scribblemonsters drawings. The machinereadable plastic card is fully intact and has a chip with photo and fingerprints on file when scanned.

I'd say take both the passport in question and the Swedish national ID to the interview

There are many people that show up to the interview with a expired passport, highly unlikely that you will run into any issue.

Ill take my passport(including a photocopy of the undamaged version) and national ID and a copy of the swedish "birth certificate"(basically a bunch of papers stating who i am) and hope for the best. And once thats all over, ill get an emergency passport to fly back home to sweden to renew my passport while visiting family.

My 2-year-old did the same thing to my passport right after I sent my documents to USCIS. I had to renew it (takes up to 3 months in my consulate). But it should be OK as long as you have another type of ID. Don't worry and keep your documents away from kids, like "2 meters up high" AWAY ))) Good luck on your interview.
