K1 Timeline after arrival in the States

My K1 Fiancee will be stateside and I have a few questions regarding how to proceed. Below is the order I think to be right but please correct me if I'm mistaken.

1. Arrive in States

2. Get married

3. File Form I-485

4. Wait for form to be processed, completed, and approved.

5. File form I- 765

6. Wait for form to be processed, completed, and approved.** Is this when she gets a Social Security Number? **

7. File form I- 131

8. Wait for form to be processed, completed, and approved. **Is this when she can travel outside of the states? **

9. File form I - 751

10. Wait for form to be processed, completed, and approved.

11. Citizenship.

I understand that numbers 9-11 require years of waiting but I understand that the first steps can fly by. My questions is if I can file any of the forms at the same time. For example, can I apply for the 485, 765, and 131 at the same time?

Yes you can submit the I-765 and I-131 together with the I-485.

She should apply for the social security number BEFORE you get married, less hassle that way. If she is changing her name, then she should submit the I-485, I-765 and I-131 in her married name, then update the social security card with her new married name when she gets the EAD combo card, or green card, whichever comes first.

The I-751 and citizenship come much later.

- Open joint + personal bank account if she is bringing funds with her

3. File Form I-485 (

- Apply for I-485, I-765, I-131 together, make sure you follow the guide well

- Get Combo-card (AP+EAD), GC

9. File form I - 751

10. Wait for form to be processed, completed, and approved.

11. Citizenship.

Points 9-11, sounds about good, I am sorry I don't know too much about it yet, still waiting on my AOS

For your SSN : If your then spouse wished to change her name, you can go to the SSOffice with the marriage certificate. She will need her birth certificate (with it's translation) and her passport. The card will come a bit later.

With the SSN she can apply for a State ID and open a bank account, without she will probably not be able to do this

If she does a State ID or Driver License this one could be valid until her passport expires, this has been the case for me. When she receives her EAD she can extend the expiration.

we went to S.S. office one day after POE, took care of that, then got the marriage license same day after that.

We apply for a social security card 2 weeks after POE of my fiance (now husband), we received 2 days after.They required me to add it to my medical insurance and bank account.

The fees for the I-765(EAD-work authorization) and I-131(AP-advance parole for travel) are waived when filed with a pending I-485, so include both of those too. It takes about 60-90 days to receive the EAD/AP combo card, which will allow you to work(along with an SSN) and re-enter the US when traveling abroad while waiting for the green card approval.

You need all the supporting documents for each form as well, so read the instructions for each one. You can also search here on VJ for what to include with each form if you get stumped. There are also example forms here on VJ you can look at when filling out the forms. They can be helpful.

The I-751 will come almost 2 years after the AOS approval. ROC is filed within the 90 days prior to the green card expiring.
