we filed on october 2 nd... got biometrics done after 3 weeks, also a yellow letter saying our int.notice should follow shortly afterwards, and since then -- nothing! We file in Dallas , the slowest office as for our experience goes.

I dont understand why it is taking so long....we called uscis and each time we get different answers, some said -- in 2 weeks u need to get the yellow letterfor your interview, others said that when it comes it comes - nothing they can do about it....

i dont know whats going on honestly

That has been almost my exact experience. I also filed in early October, did biometrics at the end of the month and got the yellow letter, then nothing. The first time I spoke to someone at USCIS, he said to just wait and then try again if nothing's happened in a month. The second time we called, we were told that they'd created a case and would bring it to the field office's attention in Chicago and that we should hopefully get an appointment in a couple of weeks. I'm not sure what the problem is, since people who filed after me in the same office have already gotten and in a some cases already had their appointment.

1- Actually, if you look at the tables in most months, you'll see that Dallas is fast for a major city; much faster than New York, Houston, LA, and poor Atlanta!

2- The yellow letter is not the interview letter. The yellow letter just tells you what to bring to the interview and usually (but not always) arrives sometime between biometrics and the interview letter.

I don't think you should be too worried; the whole process takes between 5 to 8 months on average these days, and Dallas is very fast at scheduling oath ceremonies after the interview. But if you wan't to check-up on your application, I advise you to make an Infopass appointment and go talk to someone in person. Sometimes that just makes them realize that they've forgotten about your file and it may speed things up, but there are no guarantees that it would help.

Usually, if you're stuck at the same stage for 4 months, it might be a good idea to go talk to them... it sounds like you've been in the post-biometrics stage for about 3 months, so you can go ahead and make an appointment, but don't worry too much. There are people in other offices who applied in May and June and are still waiting for an interview.

JimmyHou can you tell how to make an infopass? i mean i know how to do it, go on the site and enter zipcode. But after that you have to choose from limited options. the best seems "get information or other services".. which always leads to 'no appointment can be given for this purpose at the moment in your area'

Sorry, I can't help you there... maybe look for another option? There should be something about checking on your status. Nothing about that? Maybe someone who's recently done an Infopass can help you out.

Hi! I've been reading this thread lately. It seems most October filers got the interview letters and some of you had been interviewed. And congratulations who passed the interview.

I'm an October filer as well but I didn't have an interview letter yet. My case status was updated since October 23, 2014. Me and I husband called the USCIS last week. They just told us to wait 30 days after the day we called.

I'm just little bit worried about application. I hope I'll get my interview letter soon. I'm just so anxious to get it done.

I think maybe it's not letting you set up an infopass because it hasn't even been that long at all! The N400 process can take up to a year and varies from field offices to even the actual applicant (background checks, country of orgin etc) . Some people in this thread are already US citizens, while others wont get an interview, like me, probably until May. I am filing in Dallas and it's pretty backed up (the USCIS website states they are currently processing N400 in Dallas from April 2014!). I saw on the July filers thread that someone in Dallas who filed in July 2014 JUST today got his interview date for March 2015 in Dallas...

I think it's important to remember (and we all know this because we are at the citizenship stage) that there is no logic to USCIS and you just need to otherwise occupy yourself on not focus on it so much. I'm from Canada and sponsoring a spouse takes up to 4 years (and that's with NO right to work and NO healthcare). In comparison, things are pretty quick in the US...

Sassha, I am also at the Dallas office, and it's pretty back up so all this is normal. You wont get an interview letter for at least another 2-3 months...July filers in Dallas are just receiving March interview dates...and the USCIS timeline shows Dallas is currently processing N400 requests from April 2014. :wow:

We have a while to go :sleepy:

But I just wanted to comment so you know it's all normal!

I'm filing at Dallas. I'm in line for an interview since October 23. It seems Dallas is too slow. :-(

BINGO! Now you know why it's not moving fast. Nothing wrong with you or your application, its the field office! Look through the many other filer threads and you'll see people from May 2014 in Dallas JUST had their interview. Unless they suddenly hire more people at the Dallas field office, you and I wont get an interview for a long while. Don't worry about it and live your life :) You can travel and work freely with your green card anyway!

Sorry for the missing info! My field office is Dallas and the GC date is Oct 10, 2009. I'm sorry I don't remember when I sent it (early October 2014 for sure) , and I do not have a date for the check being cashed bc I did sent a cashier's check... Thanks for adding me, I did not know how to do it :)

tocca2015 added! Good luck.

Thanks! I just don't want to renew my passport and it's been expired already. I'm planning to have a vacation in my country for a month but I guess I just have to wait til I'm done with this process.
