At this embassy we can cancel and rebook. It is not backlogged and you can even get next day appointments. Booked next interview on April 13th (here, the appointments for the following month open the 2nd week of the current month) Medical: April 15th Self scheduled Interview date: May 13th Decision - Refused (system updated from Ready to Refused the same time, forgot the divorce decree) Decree mailed from US: May 13th Received: May 17th Sent documents to embassy via DHL - May 17th Service center received May 21st and May 22nd (2 passports sent the same day - the 20th was a holiday in the country) Administrative processing: May 24th Issued: May 28th (27th was a US holiday) Returned to DHL: May 29th Received: May 29th (picked up from DHL) We leave in about 3 months. THE INTERVIEW We stood in a line outside for about 15 minutes. Then went through security and into the waiting room. They were only 2 people ahead of us for IV but if you get there earlier you’d be faster. It’s FIFO. We went to a window to check in with a guy who verified the address and gave me a notice for removal of conditions and also the “domestic violence” awareness document. He checked my application, asked for a telephone number and verification of my father’s name because I didn’t have it on the application. He explained that if I get to the U.S. before the 2 year anniversary I needed to follow the steps on the form he gave me. (At this stage I assumed we were approved already because the pre-check guy gave me everything). Then we waited for about an hour for the “interview”. (The first interview was a couple - they spent 45 minutes getting drilled at the window, the second was a lady she was just there for 10 minutes - both didn’t have enough evidence so I didn’t know if I would be 45 mins or 10mins). The Consular Officer called both our names, we went to the window and she asked my child the age and asked me where my spouse and I met and then said “I bet you were planning to move for a while right?” I said yes She then asked what my spouse does for work. She stamped our B1/B2 visas “cancelled without prejudice”, gave me the passports and a green paper 221g and told me to mail the original divorce decree back with the passports. She said she couldn’t complete unless she had that original document. Less than 5 minutes at the window. 2024-05-30
