Richard-Y-Abigail got a reaction from hafsol in Can we apply for Food stamps?
I hesitate to participate in this discussion, because we do receive foodstamps. I had been with my fiance in Mexico for about 8 years, and we arrived here at the heigth of the "depression" in June of 2009. There were no jobs for carpenters, or handymen. I knew that I was the only one that qualified for help, and made it clear when filling out the forms, that my wife and three children were immigrants, and did not qualify. I am now employed, and we no longer need them. I want to say that as bad as this economy has been, with people accustomed to making thousands of dollars, and are now on unemployment, is it such a surprise that there are now people on welfare, that have never received it before-hand. This is almost the same for me. I believe that the welfare department knows this, and thinks accordingly.

    WOW!
I find it better to just simply ignore the processing time. Try not to focus on waiting. A watched pot never boils. Focus on something else, and then before you know it, it will all happen so quickly. My wife was anxious the whole time, and as a result, the time waiting, for her, was excruciating, while I went about the business of everyday living, and everything happened so fast.

Truly the OP's question has struck a nerve. We all know here that even honest couples have been denied. Perhaps the OP's fiancee' is looking towards the future, and will make a full change in his life. This is a good thing. The OP's journey is her own. We all know that when love finds us, that it is not always what we expected.
Good Luck to you both. We wish you the best. Keep records of all your contacts, and letters, and such. See you when you get here. Congratulations.

I am so glad that you took the time to ask us here on VJ about getting married, but I would like to point out something that you mentioned. Unless you are members of some other type of Church of Christ, for example "United Church of Christ", I can see no reason biblically why the church would not recognize a marrital union formed in front of a Justice Of The Peace. I attended Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas, and Rochester college in Rochester, Michigan, both colleges based on and supported by the churches of Christ, and I can think of no example where a marriage with a minister is commanded by God. Nor all my years as a member of the churches of Christ have I heard this either.
Feel good about the advice here, and I am glad that you can move the date of the marriage forward, but I do suggest that you question the person who has advised you that without a religious ceremony, the marriage would not be valid. Like I always say, if it isn't in the book, it isn't so. Good Luck.

Richard-Y-Abigail got a reaction from meadowzephyr in Interview, who should answer?
Our interview was carried out with respect. One question that he asked us was the last time that we argued. My reason for entering with my fiance was sound. Our youngest was still in diapers, and the other two were so young. No one felt that we were pushy, or invasive. At the time that that we did our K-1, we had not spoke with anyone that was filing for any type of Visa, and did not know about VJ. Our heads were clear, our conscience clean, and we had no preconceptions. We entered happy to finally have our chance to speak with the very person who would decide our fate. Not one time did we have any doubts that we would fail. For us, our interview at the Juarez consulate was merely a formality. It never occurred to us that we would not be successful. We prepared well. We dressed well. Our answers were not rehearsed. For us, it was a pleasurable event.

Hi. Yeah, I said, oops, the I-130. My children are not illegally here or in school illegally. There is no statute of limitations when we file for AOS. Our youngest crossed the border with his own Visa. This is another story. We are at worst, out of status. We are following the law. Forgive me, but I feel that you are jumping to conclusions. As with every case, there are variables, and I assure you that we have broken no laws.

Right now I can't remember this form that you are looking for... I do want to respond to a couple of things. The medical that was done in Juarez is not the only medical that your husband will have to have. This is not a full-medical check up and it is not where the decision is made as to whether your husband has all his vaccinations, and that they are up-to-date. This will be done in the United States. You said that the medical office in Juarez did not accept your husband's Cartilla de Salud. When we went through there, others with other type of Visas were not so lucky. Their Cartillas De Salud were not accepted either. It was explained to us that there is too much fraud in Mexico, and that they have no way of knowing if the record is valid or not, therefore everyone that wants to continue with their Visa at the consulate must, without exception, receive every shot required by the US government. Let me say, "What a Sham". My wife and I took good care of our children's health. Every shot recorded was administered to my children, and MY wife, my then fiance. Our Cartillas de Salud were not fraudulent. Having said that, people with K-1 Visas do not have to have the same medical check-up as others, and you and your husband are fortunate that this is the case. From what we could tell, everyone that passes through Juarez are legally robbed by the civil surgeon in Juarez. People were paying ungodly amounts of money, held virtually hostage by their hope of receiving an American Visa. They were receiving vaccinations that were already administered in their home town.
I want to add a side note about these vaccinations that are sold in Juarez. We all know that some shots affect us. Some get a fever afterwards, maybe a headache, or even a little sick. We saw people after they received their shots, and they did not seem affected. It was as if they were give vitamin B-12 shots, or some other placebo. I am suggesting that this is a sham perpetrated by this medical office. The are taking advantage of people's hopes, and ignorance. I tried reporting this, and every US officer told me that this office could not be cheating people, after all, they ad to certify through the US government to obtain this certification!
Consider this a blessing. Go to an American doctor. Get the required shots. You don't need to worry about this anymore. I just feel sorry for the people who do not get this choice. Oh, make sue that your husband gets a TB Skin test done. Some doctors did not want to do this for my wife. In Juarez, we received a digital disk. Did you?
After we went in for the medical exam, here in the United States, the doctor's office gave us not only the sealed envelope with the I-693, but also gave us copies for our records.
We did not use a certified translator. We tried, and discovered that their translation was inferior to my own. I did all the translations for us, and nothing was questioned.
We received a good piece of advice at the USCIS office: Do your best, and you will get through this. There is just too much out there, and the chances of making a mistake will always be a possibility. We can't erase the human factor.

Richard-Y-Abigail got a reaction from Kang Lang in DNA results render terrible blow...what now???
Correct me if I have this wrong. You are the father, but recently found out that your children have the DNA from another man. You have cared for the children since their mother left you guys to fend for yourselves. Now you are engaged to get married, and the children stood to get a K-2 Visa. Because you and the mother's children were born out of wedlock, immigration required the DNA tests, as this is normal procedure.
Okay. Not easy to fix, but not impossible. The biological father would need to surrender their rights as the legal father; considering that "he" has had nothing to do with them up to now, I don't know that you will have all that much trouble. You would then go before a judge, present your case, and legally adopt them. Then, once they are yours, you can then submit the necessary forms for foreign adoption to USCIS. Once the children are cleared, they will receive their American citizenship automatically. This may be better in the long run.
No sacrifice is too great for your children. Time is your biggest investment. Follow your heart. Don't think of this as suffering, or as a sacrifice. It is your obligation of love. I will do anything for my children, and it is no secret that I am their stepfather, but they will never be my "stepchildren." Understand?
I am sorry if I have this wrong. Gather what you can from my words. I wish you the best.

Richard-Y-Abigail got a reaction from Lisamarie in Visa Fraud Question...
Where is he going? Is someone waiting for him at his destination? Do you think that it is another woman? Let me tell you about con men. They do not look like, nor act like the vagabond on the corner. They are well dressed, well spoken, and can charm the heck out of you. We here on VJ have seen it all too much. US citizen is convinced that they found love, goes through all the trouble of obtaining a Visa for their sweetheart, and when the other person finally arrives here, they become an entirely different person. While you believe that he will lose face, it may by you, deep down, that cannot believe that someone would do this horrible thing, to you. You say that you love him, but you know what love is. I can love someone, but if that someone does not love me back, then I do not have a healthy relationship, one that will grow and endure. Love is all about the promise of a good future, a bright morning the next day. Grieve the loss, adjust your life, and love will come around again.
Come to think about it. I was in a relationship where she said that if I left her, that she said that she would kill herself. I stayed with her, to save her, and later I was the one who was hurt in the long run. If it were to happen now, I think that I would just sign the commitment papers, saying that they are a danger to themselves, and leave them in the hands of some very competent professionals.
Run, run, run. Do not break the law! It is your patriotic duty to support and defend the constitution of the United States. He does't care about what effect this will have on you, or your moral sense of right and wrong. Your intuition is yelling. Listen to it. Get help from a woman's organization. They deal with men like him all the time. Passive, aggressive relationships can eat at your soul.

Richard-Y-Abigail got a reaction from dindo and patty in how can I stop the ROC for my soon to be ex-spouse
If she left the USA without first applying for her green card, and she did not apply for an AP, then she cannot re-enter the United States.
If she received her two-year conditional residency permit, and she left the country for more than the time allowed, then her residency rights are removed.
The way I see it, you are the injured spouse, and if I were you, I would not hesitate in starting divorce proceedings, making sure that the reason for divorce are clearly outlined in your divorce papers. Since she is no longer in the US, then you can say she abandoned the marriage.
    I wish you the best.
