It won't be the same anymore? I think that speaks of deeper issues rather than just unhappiness with USCIS. Yes, it's a garbage process and doesn't work nearly as smoothly as it should for the amount of money we pay for it ... but we're all working towards the same goal and that's to be with our loved ones.
Personally, as soon as I get my Visa in hand, I won't give two craps about USCIS. Yes, I'll still have to deal with them for my AOS but who cares? I'll be home in the US with my love.

Because it would be unfair to those who could not afford it. This isn't one of those situations in life where you can throw more money at it to make it better. Everyone pays the same amount, everyone receives the same service.
Not everyone gets to travel much internationally, either. This forum is full of people who haven't seen their loved ones in countless months due to financial restrictions.
People seem to forget that VJ is a very, very small sample size of how many Visas are applied for every month. In the long run, 5-6 months isn't that bad at all.
What I don't understand is the people who read up on the process, decide to go with it, understand that it will take awhile ... and then, once they're in the middle of the process, complain that it's taking a long time.
Write all the angry letters you'd like. Unfortunately it won't get you anywhere.
I don't think there's anyone here who thinks the system is fine and is loving their wait. There are simply people who realize it is what it is and you have to pick and choose your battles. There are some things in life that you simply cannot change, government bullsh*t is one of them. So you can spend your time waiting, hating every second of it and kicking up a storm because things aren't going your way, or you can simply wait and try to make the best of it. Accept what you cannot change and live your life.

Ugh, PLEASE do not try and undermine me simply because you've waited a little bit longer than I have. I've waited for going on five months now, so I get it. Thanks.
Never ONCE have I said you don't have a right to be frustrated, angry, upset, whatever you may feel right now. I simply said, THAT is the process. That is the way things are. Ranting and raving about it will not speed up your case. It will not make anything easier.
In the big picture of life, these few months aren't going to mean much once we reach our goal.

    I don't like it either.
But you know what? I'm grateful for it. Because it's going to let me live my life the way I want to, which is a huge privilege. It is by no means a right. So while the waiting sucks, and I wish it was easier, I'm just thankful that this process even exists.
Things worth having in life rarely just get handed to you. It takes frustration, patience and hard work.
So I don't like it, but there's no way I'd consider sending hate mail to the people who I'm asking to help me.

You know, I didn't really look at the website for the first couple months either. Luckily for you, that's when your petition was approved. Those of us nearing or past the five month mark have a right to be frustrated and curious as to the state of the petition.
While I agree with the majority of your post and that there is a lot that needs to be prepared for and this is a good time to do it, I disagree with anyone judging someone or telling people to find something better to do with their time in regards to the website. Easy to say when your application was so quickly approved.

To come out and tell someone they will have problems in their relationship (a relationship nobody here except the OP knows anything about) is very uncalled for.

People here are just trying to help you and to prepare for what's to come, which is a guaranteed denial. It isn't us judging the way you got married, or your relationship, it's telling you what a marriage is by their definition. If you were not present at your marriage or it has not since been consummated, you will NOT get a visa. You're being incredibly rude, when people are attempting to tell you the TRUTH. Not their opinion, but FACTS.

I can absolutely understand the OP's frustration. I wouldn't be pleased if my husband was paying for cars and cell phone bills of a 24 year old, daughter or not. Especially if he's doing it while lying about it, not filing for AOS so I could get some work myself, not allowing me to go home if I wanted to, not disclosing OUR financial situation as husband and wife to me, not allowing me to be a part of any decision making, etc.
I think it's sickening that the OP is being advised to suck it up and be nice to him and maybe things will get better.

Anyway, OP, I am going to second Amyyduck's advice and say to read the instructions again thoroughly before sending off your application. Better to be safe than sorry in case you may have missed other important information. Good luck!

Well, this post is certainly full of overreactions.
It really isn't difficult to research a simple question. There are so many posts a day, it should be assumed that the question you'd like to ask has been asked and answered before. There is a search function because of this. While there are no stupid questions, there are the same questions nearly every day sometimes. Going back a page or two doesn't take long.
However, if people aren't interested in answering the question, it's easy to simply provide a link to where the answer is and move on. I don't think anybody was being rude or unhelpful, just trying to guide people into using this forum to its full potential.

Being realistic is not being pessimistic. Of course the OP is welcome to try whatever they'd like. But they should know what the probable outcome will be. No sense in getting someone's hopes up.

No matter how many guidelines you put in place, life happens. People shouldn't be made to feel guilty about that.

Take a look in the Canada forum sometime. There are many people who have taken nine months or more. You are not a victim. You aren't being screwed by the system. Everyone's case is different. Some take three months, some take nine.
You can try and justify it any way you'd like but I highly doubt anyone here is going to tell you that it's a good idea to lie. And of course, they're going to ask you to prove it, so it doesn't matter anyway.
Suck it up, wait like the rest of us.

Yes - it would be an issue.
If a form asks you how many children you have - and you say "2" when you really have "4" - you just misrepresented yourself and opened yourself to bans for immigration. You have to answer the question in the context of the form/question.
For example - the I129F question 13 says to list all your children - it doesn't specify only the ones coming with you. So if you have 4 children, you would write their 4 names.
The affidavits will ask how many people you will sponsor. If only 2 children are coming with you, than that is what you write on that form for the count.

I would answer it honestly. I didn't want to get married only to be separated after while we go through the CR1 process. Once we are married, I want to be able to stay with my husband.
I think as long as you meet the income requirements, your savings doesn't matter much.

Yikes. They probably already know, then, if her baggage was looked at.
People who break the rules are the reason this process is so ridiculous for the people who want to do things the right way.

Maybe I'm overly sensitive today, but it actually kind of angers me that people want to go through this process but get around the requirements. Meanwhile, the rest of us with valid, legitimate relationships work incredibly hard to get all our evidence together, get all our paperwork completed, spend the days and months waiting, but knowing we are doing things the proper legal, way.
You do not have a relationship. Not one that you can prove, and yet you want the same privileges as the rest of us? Not going to happen.

The package should've gone to Texas, as per the instructions on the USCIS website. It will likely be forwarded there once Vermont receives it. Unfortunately, the person preparing your package didn't catch that. It might delay you a few days but shouldn't be an issue.

A little harsh, unnecessarily so, I think. People are entitled to use these forums to vent about this process. It's not an easy road for anyone.
