My goodness, this is an extremely judgmental and NOT helpful response. If you don't have any facts, and don't have any answers, I suggest not commenting if all you feel like doing is judging someone harshly for their living situation. Yes, you have enough proof.
And yes, you both need to sign a letter of intent. You can find examples of this letter in the guides. The letter basically states that you are legally free and willing to marry within 90 days of entry into the US using the K1 visa.
You can file for an SSN about two weeks after entering the US.
Once you get married, you can file for AOS/EAD(work permit)/AP(travel permit) ... do these all at the same time, so that the EAD/AP fees are waived. The fee for AOS is $1070.
You do not need to have a SSN to file for AOS/EAD/AP. You will, however, need one to work.

Two things:
1. Unless Mr. Bush's wife is here illegally, he's really off base about her. Being from Mexico doesn't mean you're here illegally.
2. American white males haven't been sleeping. I know it appears that way since Obama won both twice, but maybe, just maybe, it's because most of the white males in this country don't want to vote for people who make sweeping generalizations about entire demographics of people.
Here's a hint. You want to win votes? You go after everyone, not just the people you can relate to. Mitt Romney learned this a tad bit too late in the game...
