YpsiFella got a reaction from Lucky2Lucky in Interview Today - Approved
Had my interview today and got approval. Detroit office - very professional and friendly experience.
I had a tentative completion date of April but after the interview it now shows as May. I hope they are just playing it safe. The IO said about a month until the oath ceremony.
I tried to find out when the next oath ceremony would be or when the last one was but couldn’t dig up a thing.
in any event it was a GREAT day!!

YpsiFella got a reaction from bsd058 in Don't Know the Right Thing To Do .... Approved Today
I have agonized tonight about whether to even post this but I honestly want people to be encouraged. I know how ridiculous that sounds to those people who are out here helping others every day and yet still wait for their approvals. My heart bleeds for each and every one of you and I pray for all of you to be blessed with approvals quickly. I have been using visajourney a long time (this will be my second GC)and knowledge, experience and encouragement is the most and the best we have to offer each other.
My wife and I (she is USC) have been married ten years. I had the GC before but we moved back to Canada where we live now. Yes we filed from Canada. We got our NOA1 on January 14 and were sent to NBC. Got the e-mail late this afternoon and it is on the website also. We have been approved after - compared to what so many of you have been through - an insanely short time (32 days). I will say right now that if I were in your shoes and had been waiting 5...6...7.. or more months I would be furious. But I still wanted to let you know. You are the only people we have to share this with - and as it turns out my wife is today in the US visiting family so we weren't together when we got the word. Praise God for our blessing and I pray to God for yours.

YpsiFella got a reaction from Kathryn41 in canadian needing to get home ASAP
Its a little uglier than you think. I went through this in May 2011. Whoever said that your challenge is the airlines is correct. Although Canada officially does not state it, the border folks will tell you that Canada has signed on to a multinational agreement that requires a passport to be shown. Having said that, the advice I was given by Border Services over the phone is that if you tell them you are a Canadian citizen they will take you to secondary to verify but they cannot deny you entry. I had a copy of my birth certificate so that ended the discussion at the border. I got in without going to secondary. It was not a warm and friendly discussion one though. Take the expired passport along. Call the airlines to see if you will have trouble boarding with just a green card and an expired passport but once again it is up to the counter agent whether they will let you board or not. Get there really early in case you have to spend some time at it. If you live in the US you do not have access to expedited passport renewal at a passport office in Canada either but that will be no issue for you. You can renew when you get back to the US. I learned my lesson - I will renew early from now on. It is not worth the stress.
I should also have said that one option is to fly close to the border and drive across in a rental car. That way you have no issue with the airlines and you will certainly get through at a highway border crossing. In my case I was headed for Vancouver so I could have flown to Seattle and driven across at Blaine WA.
